It was Tuesday morning and the second period of the day.
Ms. Park distributes the class exam paper. Everyone got their paper.
"There's one student that almost got the perfect score. Keep up the good work, and we'll continue our materials for this week."
Mae's POV.
I picked up my paper and get back to my seat, Ms. Park announced that one of us almost got a perfect score. I saw 98 marks on my paper and smirked proudly.
"Ahem." I clear my throat to turn back and show the exam paper to the boy I've always competed with.
He raises his eyebrow at me as he shows his 99 scores marked on the paper. A smile was erased from my face.
"Try harder." Joonyeong said with such a degrading tone.
"YOU SUCKER." I whispered and turn back.
I was so upset. It was so close, why would Ms. Park say that only one student almost got the perfect score. My grade was just 1 point behind Joonyeong's.
A few strands of my hair got pulled made my head tilt to the back.
"Motherf—." I almost curse.
"Mae, what is your problem. Please remind silent your friend is doing the exercise quietly." Ms. Park admonish me and thankfully cut me off before I said a full curse. That made the whole class have eyes on me though. I feel dispirited so I look down right to the English book deciding to do the question.
"Don't be so upset, you are not that great. You haven't beat my score in any subject this semester." Joonyeong whispered as he leaned forward to me.
I ripped a page from my notebook and wrote something to it. I clumped the paper and throw it at the boy that sat behind me. Tap. The paper hit his nose. My paper landed right on target.
Joonyeong POV.
I opened the paper Mae threw at me and
'NO BITCHES? :('
I chuckle, knowing damn well Mae's so upset. I'm joking though, it's funny how we compete since we were kids but this is the first time she has never kept up with my score in half of the semester.
