It was Wednesday afternoon and I was pacing back and forth in my bedroom. Lucas said he was coming over at 4:00pm. I checked the time.

3:45pm

It had only been a minute since I'd last checked. I decide to sit down and watch some TV shows on my laptop for a bit. I was thinking too much.

Fifteen minutes flew by and Lucas rung the doorbell.
Oh no, thought to myself. This is it.

"I'll be right there!" I yell, hoping he could hear me. I hurry downstairs and stand in front of the door. I take a deep breath and twist the handle.

"Hey Miss Mattews." Lucas smiles lightly.

"Why hello Mr Friar." I put my left hand out and he shakes it. We both start giggling and I invite him in.

I give him a mug of hot chocolate and make one for myself. In deep conversation we head upstairs and go into my bedroom. I sit on my bed and he sits on my comfortable chair in the corner.

I suddenly remembered that he wanted to ask me something. It was the main reason he was here! I didn't want to budge him to tell me so I sat hoping:

1: It would be okay and the thing he was going to tell me wasn't to drastic.

2: That he would tell me sooner or later.

He brung up the old times when we would all meet somewhere and chat for hours on end about pure nonsense.

"Oh and remember when Farkle laughed while eating ice cream at Creamy-O's and then sneezed, getting it everywhere?" We both laugh hysterically.

Lucas sighs. "So..," He begins. "I need to tell you something." His lovely smile very quickly slips off his face, making the whole room feel gloomy.

I try to seem cheerful. "You can tell me anything."

He rubs his forehead and tenses up. "Ok.... so, you know that I love you, and you love me."

I nod. "Of course, forever and always!"

"Well, maybe not after this."

I feel tears well up in my eyes. "W-what do you mean?" I stutter.

His eyes started to well up with tears too. He notices me looking unhappy and sits next to me.

"Hey, it's alright." He wraps his arm around me.

"Then what are you saying?" I rub my eyes.

"M-m-ma"

I hug him tightly.

"My dad, h-he got a new job."

I frown, confused. All I wondered was why that was so bad. But then, he told me.

His next words were like daggers being thrown at me. I was wishing I'd never hear those words.

"And it's back in my home town."

I sit, wide eyed. "Aww Lucas! I'm so sorry! I'll help you through missing your father I promise. How long will he be gone?" I say, completely missing his point.

1st dagger.

"No. I don't need anything. I won't."

2nd dagger.

"Rowan..."

3rd dagger.

Slowly, in his Southern accent he says, "I'm going back to Texas."
