"Welcome to the local library, what can we help you with today?" Asked a librarian holding a lot of books in her arms. "Hello Miss we are here to inquire for some literature on-" Simeona covered Micheal's mouth and finished for him. "Do you have any books about cults? We're doing a college project for the topic on philosophy."
"Oh yes we do! There's between the fiction and geography sections."
Micheal took Simeona's hand off his mouth and nodded. "Thank you miss, shall I take these for you?" He then took the books from the librarian. "I'll help you put these away. You two go find anything about the topic." Simeona and Angie nodded as the librarian giggled as she and Micheal walked off. "Okay so what stuff do you remember from the cult?" Simeona asked as she held Angie's hand. "Uhh okay, it was in a dark cave. So they haven't moved at all. They also have like different statues on the roof. Things, I can't remember the names."
"Sculptures?"
"That, yeah."
"Any symbols?"
"Uhhh..." Angie tried to think of something from her memory. "I can't actually think of any. Probably because they had me drugged up on a ton of shit."
"What?!"
"Yeah, when I see those fuckers again I will make sure the god they worship isn't merciful enough to save them."
"I'm with you all the way. Are they all men?"
"Some are women so it makes it worse."
"Fuck."
"Yeah, so let's find the thing about this cult and then get back with stick up his ass." Angie skipped in front of Simeona as they found the philosophy section of the library. "Alright, now let's find this cult."
"There's nothing under here! No symbols, no secret entrances nothing!" Kevin groaned as he slammed his fists again the bridge walls. "We'll find something. Like maybe coordinates to somewhere that could lead us to the path of the cult. We already know where it is, we just need to find out how to get there. We should find the main entrance and then make a discreet one for us." Taron explained as he flicked through the pages of the book belonging to Micheal. "Well maybe if the cult would drop some hints, this would be easier! We've already checked the graveyard and everything! It's just..."
"I get your frustration, we've been cooped up in the mansion for so long. But this might help us with getting back into civilization, you know?"
"Taron there's someone in the river."
"Hm?"
"SHE'S FROZEN!" Kevin exclaimed as a person in a block of ice floated up with a hand sticking out. It was moving slightly. "She's still moving! Kevin get her out of the water!" Kevin nodded as he took off his jacket and ran into the river, getting a grip on the hand. The girl's eyes widened. She was alive. "Push her out you idiot!" Kevin used his strenght to push the ice block out of the river. Taron ran to the other side of the bridge where Kevin was. "Holy shit. Real cryopreservation."
"Her hand's totally dead."
"I saw her eyes move." Taron went closer to the block of ice. "Miss, you're going to be okay. My name is Taron. Blink twice if you understand."
She blinked twice.
"SHE'S ALIVE!"
"We need to get her out. I need a rock." Taron looked around the ground and found a sharp rock. He went back to the block of ice and started to carve the ice to get the girl out.
"Cult about goats?"
"No. That's just a stereotype."
"Battery Acid?"
"Ew. Humans actually drink battery acid?"
"The way they make it, absolutely."
"Lemme check." Angie crawled on top of the table and closely examined the passage in the book. "None of this is the cult. There was a thing I do remember though. A crystal. Green and it glowed."
"What, malachite?"
"Don't be a douche. Malachite doesn't glow like the crystal did."
"Well how about this. I look for books about crystals and you try to find the cult around here."
"Alright, but if I end up eating the pages don't get mad at me."
"I'm used to it, my brother does that all the time."
Simeona walked down some aisles of the library as she looked for books about crystals.
Angie kept looking through the pages until she got to a image of a crystal that was a dark seafoam green. She gasped as she read the text. "Holy fuck! Simmy I found it!"
"You found the cult?!"
"Yeah!"
"Well a coincidence that I found the crystal books!"
Angie pointed to the crystal diagram that was next to some text. "That's the crystal! They waved it around you and it would go into you like gas."
"That's definitely not malachite."
"Exactly."
"Well what's the name of the cult?"
Angie and Simeona looked through the text before Angie put her finger on a section called "The Order of Altan."
"That's them. That's the fuckers who's doing all this."
"What's this?" Simeona glanced at a piece of folded paper which was tucked into the spine of the book. She unfolded it and it said
'section 4, at the end of the bottom shelf with the red ribbon. Then the door right next to the window with the illustrations. get that book to your residence and make sure it does not fall into the wrong hands.'
"Who wrote this?" Angie asked.
"Don't know, but whoever it was has fancy handwriting." Simeona put the paper in her pocket. "I'll go find section 4." Angie started to head to the back of the library. "Ang, section 4's at the front."
"I knew that." Angie zoomed past Simeona as she went past section 4 but then shuffled back. She then crouched down and looked for a book with a red ribbon. She found it and fist bumped herself. She went back to Simeona and spun the book in her hand. "Found it!"
"Great! What's the cover like?"
Angie turned the book to it's front and squinted. "It says 'property of Jacquire Marcellus'. That sounds old."
"It is. That dude was one of the founders of the Marcelli company long ago. He also was the leader of this group to stop the world ending because of some cryst-" Simeona paused. "I just realized something."
"Hm?"
"We need to tell the boys about this. This ain't just some minor club thing. Where's the door?"
Angie pointed to the door that had crudely coloured in bees.
"We need to go quickly. I'll head back to the house and you go find Micheal."
"Okay." They both split up as Simeona ran out of the library with the book as Angie looked around for Micheal and then found him sleeping on the table as the librarian was reading her book. "Is he okay?" She asked the librarian. "He's just sleeping. I think the tea was too much for him."
"What kind of tea did you give him?"
"Valerian Root."
"Ah, that one's a knockout."
Angie then moved Micheal into her arms as he snuggled up to her. She froze as she didn't know how to feel about this. "Are you okay miss?"
"I'm...I'm fine. I don't get a lot of physical contact most of the time. I'm known as a hermit."
"Don't start with me, my wife's like that as well."
"Well tell your wife she's not the only one. See you around lady."
"Have a good day miss!"
"You two." Angie walked out of the library as she looked around at the town and gasped. It was so lively. She then remember when she was younger. She felt like she was going to cry. But she stopped herself. "Micheal where's your crib at?" She whispered. She then lifted up his arm and moved it to where the mansion was. "There. Thanks stickass."
"Close the curtains Kev, I think if we introduce all for this slowly it'll work." Taron asked as he put his hand on the frozen girl's head. The fire was on and she was covered in blankets. "Make sure the hot chocolate and tea's still warm. You got those clothes washed?"
"Yes Mr Nagging Pants."
"Alright. Pass me that towel." Kevin handed Taron a small tea towel. Taron then put the tea towel on the girl's head. "Is she going to be alright?"
"She's breathing. She's alright."
The girl started to breath deeply as she felt Taron's hand and gripped it.
"It's okay, it's alright." He reassured her as her eyes started to open. Her breathing slowed down as she glanced around frantically. "Where am I?!" She blurted out as she tried to get up quickly. "Woah woah, take it easy. You were frozen in a whole block of ice. We'll wait for you to be ready."
She looked at Kevin and Taron with confusion. "Do I have permission?" She asked. The two boys looked at each other with confusion. "Uh, of course! Of course you have permission to talk. Why wouldn't you?" She looked at the two with confusion. "It's not ladylike."
"What year is it?" Kevin asked.
"Isn't it 1872?"
Taron and Kevin's eyes widened as they realized that this girl was from the victorian times. "Please do not freak out miss, but it's not 1872. It's 2054. It's the future. I'm sorry." Taron explained as he took the towel off her head. She looked at him with a estranged look. "The future?"
"Yes. My name is Taron McGorrie and this guy is one of my friends, Kevin Egerton. We live here. In Britain. What's your name?"
"....Amelia. Amelia Rygaird."
"Oh! Fancy name! Well we have new clothes for you if you want to change. We also have hot chocolate and tea, whatever you prefer."
"Thank...thank you very much gentleman. I might need some help."
"How so?"
"I cannot move my legs."
Taron and Kevin looked at the blankets and carefully lifted them off to reveal that both of her legs, now defrosted were dead and decaying badly. "Holy shit. Your legs are fucked!"
"WHAT?!" She pushed herself up in shock. She saw her legs and started to hyperventilate. "Woah woah miss please calm down!" Taron held her close, rubbing her shoulders calmly. "My legs, MY LEGS!"
"Here, have some tea!" Taron picked up the tea carefully and showed her it. She watched it and looked back at him. "What blend is it?"
"Kevin what blend is it?"
"Lavender."
"...I like lavender." She mumbled. She then took the tea cup gently from Taron's hands and took a sip from it. Her face softened as she put her head on Taron's shoulder. "This is..exquisite. It's so different from the tea I had." Taron smiled as Kevin looked around for something. "Kevin what are you looking for?"
"Well she's alive. But she can't move coz of her legs. I'm trying to think where I left your dad's wallet."
"Why do you need my dad's wallet?"
"To buy a wheelchair and later some prosthetic legs."
Amelia's eyes widened in interest.
"For me?"
"Well of course for you?"
"Let her be interested Kev, I know about her times. She needs this."
The doorbell rang. Amelia darted her head to where the noise came from. "YO WHOEVER'S HOME LET US IN! WE GOT THE GOLD!"
"Gold?" Amelia mumbled. "Ah! HOLD ON! Kev can you make sure Amelia's okay while I get the door?"
"Yea sure." Kevin went over to where the two were as Taron got up and went to the door. He opened it as Angie stood there with Micheal still in her arms. "We found the cult thing, It's a bigger deal than anything we thought of. Simeona's gonna show up soon and Micheal here drank some sleepy tea."
"Angie! That's great! We actually got something- well someone."
"Someone?"
"We were under the bridge to find evidence and signs about the mutants and the cult and we found someone frozen in ice. She's from the victorian times." Taron let Angie in. "Are you being sarcastic?"
"No. She's literally from the victorian times. 1872."
"But it's 2054."
"Exactly."
"That would make her like a hundred years old."
"Yeah, she's in the living room. She needs a wheelchair because of her legs."
"What are they like, dead?"
"Yes, actually."
They both walked into the living room as Kevin and Amelia looked up at them. "Ayyy Angie!"
"Ayyyy Kevin!"
Amelia looked at the two of them in curiosity. Angie glanced at Amelia and whistled. "So you're from the victorian times?" She asked as she put Micheal on the couch. "Why yes, I am. You are a interesting looking person."
"Aw thanks, It's not one by choice though. I'm Angie, Angie Brauvwoods and Taron told me that you're from the victorian times so I'm gonna say this very gently. I'm a mutant." Amelia gasped as she covered her mouth. "You poor thing!"
"I'm used to it. What's your name?"
"My name is Amelia. Amelia Rygaird."
"Well nice to meet you Amelia. The guy I just carried into the house is Micheal, the one with the stick up his ass."
"Hm?"
"It's a saying, it means he's very uptight about everything."
"Oh. Interesting."
"Wah..." Micheal groaned as he rubbed his head. "Look who decided to wake up here and then." Kevin joked as Micheal flipped him the bird. "Fuck you Kevin."
He rose up slowly and rubbed his eyes before his vision focused and he got a look at the 5 on the floor. He noticed Amelia and had a confused look on his face. "Who is she?" He asked. Amelia felt her heart go a little as she and Micheal made eye contact. "She's Amelia, Speccy and Kevin found her in the river frozen in a block of ice and she needs a wheelchair or new legs." Angie explained as Micheal got off from the couch and sat down in front of her. They both just stared with fascination. "I have never seen a lady like you before."
"One that has no legs?"
"One with the most matted hair in the world?"
"One with a victim complex?"
Amelia held her hand out for him to shake. He did so and Simeona clapped. "Well, now that we got introductions out of the way, we found a book belonging to someone that Simeona learned about in class."
"Tell us."
"Jacquire Marcellus, one of the OG founders of the Marcellus enterprise."
"You mean the ones that have that massive building in the middle of nowhere?"
"Exactly."
"But what do they gotta do with all this? The cult?"
"Yes."
