"I'm not scared," LaMelo snapped back. "And I really don't need you," he replied coldly, trying to convince you but his tone sounded as though he was trying to convince himself."Okay, that's fine. Go 'head and let JJ know that's your final decision then," you smirked, looking out the window knowing you already won this conversation now by bringing up JJ, who loved and appreciated you as he knew you were great at keeping LaMelo productive outside of the court.
"JJ a bitch," he muttered.
"Hey!"
"You can tell him I said that too."
You scuffed at him in response.
"Watch how you talk about people around you... Is that how you talk about me?"
"No, not at all," he muttered, making a wide turn before accelerating down the road.
"Nothing but good things to say about you, shorty."
"Don't call me that," you told him, fighting back a smile. As his tone sounded more sarcastic rather than sincere. "And don't lie to me."
"I'm not," he smiled. "Where are we even going anyway?"
"The most expensive restaurant you know... what's that one you were talking about in the interview?" You inquired.
"Chima?"
"Yeah!" You exclaimed.
"Is it pricey?"
"I think so," you stated.
"Then let's go there."
"Whatchu tryna run up my check for? Gold digging ass," he chuckled.
"Oh I'm sorry Mr. "I'll make more money than he ever will." Didn't think Chima would hurt your pockets."
"It'd hurt my pockets if I'm paying for you."
You glared at him.
"Ma'fucka, you sign my checks!" You said with a laugh.
"Hey, watch how you talk to your boss, little girl," he said with a smirk, clenching his jaw. You watched the way he adjusted his hands as he gripped the steering wheel.
"Don't call me that either," you laughed.
You smiled proudly, crossing your legs in your seat while looking out of the car window. You were stoked to finally be getting your way in this situation. There were so many moments where you felt defeated by him. This finally was not one of them.
It was true that you had never spent personal time with LaMelo beyond it being work related things. You rarely had the desire to, as one full work day with him was plenty of time a single human being could handle.
"What you want me to call you then?" He finally asked, eyes fixated on the road ahead of him.
"I have a name," you giggled. "Did you forget you might have said it maybe about 10 minutes ago? Hmm, I mean, I know it's been six months that we've known each other, but that little brain of yours makes it hard to remember things," you sneered.
"Foul," he mumbled.
" I might've said my name already today but did you need me to repeat it for you, since you forgot?" You asked him, speaking to him like a child in a taunting way. You knew what you were doing but it was thrilling to see him getting all worked up about it.
"I'm-" he scuffed, before finishing his sentence. Being mindful of the words that were about to come out of his mouth before he got too mean. "You're fired, forreal," he finally replied but rather than being mad at you, he chuckled instead.
