1971, King's Cross

It was the first of September and Aura Speller was bouncing up and down with a cauldron full of excitement. It was the day she was going to Hogwarts after all. A day she had been waiting for since years. Or rather, since the day her mother told her about it.

It was nearing 11:00, and she could no longer contain her beaming smile. Her mum smiled with exasperation and love mingled in her expression as she watched her daughter dance with excitement.
Aura walked past the barrier with her owl sitting contented in his cage, just a little nervous of crashing and looking prudent.

First step to success, DO NOT be afraid of your own destiny, she told herself. A small grin touched her lips.
Aura bounded in fearlessly, her small feet leaping from side to side, hoping she could make a few friends even if they had not even boarded the train.
it was always said you make better friends in the railway station, rather upon the entry of the school. Or so, she thought as she wove her own wild fantasies about her new school.
Aura looked around and found only 6th years around. She pouted disappointedly and left to stand next to her mother like an obedient child.
Her mother smiled at the depressed-looking child.
'Get in there, maybe then you'd find more first years?', her mum said, with a slight Scottish lilt to her voice.
Aura looked up at her mum and beamed, euphoria written all over her face. 'Yes mum, right away!'
But as she entered the train she looked back at her mother with a small frown on her face, as though she had forgotten something. She dropped her trunk just in front of the train with a loud clatter as she ran straight to her mum and gave her hug.
Elora Speller laughed, as she hugged her daughter back tightly, clutching her as though she never wanted to let go. Aura pulled away and gave her mum a last smile as she raced back to the train.
As Aura walked through the crowded passage of the Hogwarts Train Express, she could not find a single empty compartment for herself. She bit her lip nervously as she walked past the first few compartments.
A smile spread across her face as she saw a boy with vibrant freckles struggling to catch his shrieking cat, as two identical looking boys snickered at him loudly. Her eyes widened with surprise as she saw a woman walk through the passages, pushing along a huge trolley of sweets. Aura squinted her eyes to spot any of her favorite candy. Maybe some sour patch kids or charms blow pop.
But she couldn't recognize even one of them. Instead, there was a huge orange cake in box labeled: Pumpkin pastry. Along with many bags of a hundred sweets (Bertie Botts every flavor bean) and a few funny shaped chocolates (Chocolate frog), a bag of square-shaped candy lay, labeled: Drooble's best blowing gum.
Fascinated and terribly tempted to taste the best blowing gum ever, Aura asked for a small bag. The trolley lady looked at her with an odd smile as she reached out and gave her a pack.
After she paid for it, Aura immediately ripped through the bag and popped one in her mouth. After one long second, the gum in her mouth started blowing up on its own. Aura laughed loudly as it splattered all over her face and disappeared without a trace. Suddenly, not wanting to make a fool of herself on her first day, she looked from side to side, hoping nobody had noticed her gum-splattered face.

She contained a grin when she saw through the transparent window, a boy standing on his seat holding his imaginary sword up as though he were a warrior. His grey-eyed friend sitting to his side looked at him with wonderous marvel.
A red-headed girl and a greasy haired boy sitting opposite to him were looking at him in disgust. The grey-eyed boy winked at her as he noticed her looking at them, curiously. Aura didn't know how to react. She glanced at him as though he were otherworldly.
Then a sudden silly idea popped into her. She winked back and blew an air kiss towards him. His eyes widened immeasurably as he turned quickly towards the window, to hide his flushed face. She could barely contain her knowing smile when suddenly the compartment door banged open and revealed the girl with fiery red hair along with the boy who had terrible slicked up oily black hair.
Aura could hear the hooting noises the other two boys were making at their expense.
Her mouth went dry at their sudden and frightening appearance. The red head looked quite feisty. Aura decided she had to make a move before the other girl blew her off in her rage.
