Little Takemichi was happily skipping despite his bruised face. He was holding a box of small kittens with his red cape trailing behind him. He was walking by when he saw smoke at the distance. Curious, he ran towards it. There were firefighters around. Bystanders watching and gossiping. A house was seriously burning. The fire fighters was able to escape the house with a boy with black hair and another boy with blonde hair. Although the blonde one was unconscious. The black haired kid told the firefighter that there was someone still left in there. One of them tried to get back in but a small explosion in the house caused the door to collapse.

They were just standing. Takemichi was disappointed at the firefighters and scared for the one left behind. The boy was crying before passing out.

He set the box aside safely. He clenched his fists and zooms past everybody and into the house through a window.

"Oi kid!!"

He went up the stairs as fast as he could. By the time he reached the second floor, the stairs collapsed under his weight. Takemichi ignored it and went room to room to find someone.

"Hello! Anyone!!?"

He heard a cough in one room. He slammed his body into the door, smashing it to pieces.

He saw an older girl on the floor, covered in soot and burns. He went her and checked if she was breathing by hovering his hand over her nose and mouth. She was. Thank goodness.

"Wake up, please." He said as he nudged her a bit.

She groaned and he helped her stand up. He took off his cape and gave it to her so she could cover her nose. He led her to a window, knowing there was no stairs to use.

"No stairs," he told her.

Another explosion of fire. He looked around, looking for something to break the window open.

"I can't see a way out!" The girl cried out. She pulled the boy closer to her as more of the house started crumbling down.

"There's gotta be another way!" His squeaky little voice broke her heart.
What was a young boy doing here anyway?

There was a small table and chairs in room. He took the chair and threw it at the window, giving them an opening.

"Hey!" He called out to the firefighters.

Quickly, they had a big cloth ready so they can catch them.

The girl looked at the young boy. He smiled at her encouragingly.

"You go first."

She shook her head. She returned the cape back to him by tying it around his neck. She held her hand to him and said, "together."

He nodded and took her hand. They both stood on the window sill, trying to gather enough strength to jump off. Another explosion happened but this time on the second floor. The flames were getting bigger and they need to go now. Takemichi could see that she was scared. So he did what he thought was not heroic. Borderline villainous actually. He pushed her. Good thing they caught her. If they didn't it would heavily weigh in his conscience.

He saw the fire fighters not have the cloth anymore. They carefully took the girl. Before they could set up the cloth again for him, the ceiling above him collapse.

He heard muffled shouts from bellow. He cried and he screamed in pain. His leg trapped and he couldn't move. He looked at his leg to assess the damage. He was horrified. He slapped his hands on his mouth to keep him from puking. Tears streamed down from his eyes. His leg was bloody and broken. He could see his bone poking out.

He tried to find away out. He moved one debris, only it made the ones on him unbalanced and dropped on him. He couldn't move, he couldn't breathe. He was alone.

He cried by himself. He should be used to this by now.

"Think happy thoughts." He thought.

He closed his eyes. He remembered the kittens he saved today from mean bullies. They were so cute. Then he remembered the boy who was crying for the girl. He felt sorry for him and he didn't want him to be alone like he was. He was glad to be able to save the girl. Now those three can live happily ever after.

He coughed as his lungs filled with smoke. It was getting harder to breathe due to the smoke and the weight crushing him.

"I-its o-okay," he told himself with a pained smile. "I'm-m ok-kay..."

He looked around him, as much as he could in the tight space. There's no way out. Tears streamed down his face. No way out huh.

He laughed to himself, in pain yet optimistic. "I'm okay," he whispered with finality. "The adults will save me."

He closed his eyes one last time and then total darkness.

**********

The firefighters were able to put the fire out. The kids were sent to the hospital. They searched the house to look for the boy. He was under a pile of rubble. He was basically squashed. His legs were practically nonexistent. But they all teared up when they saw his face. The young boy, eyes closed, dried tear streaks on his cheeks, and a runny nose, was smiling. He died smiling. With his cape draped around his neck, and his black hair all messy. All in all, he looked like Superman. Which he was. He was a hero.

The best hero anyone has ever seen.
