6 school years of my life are going to be spent here! Ivy clung to the brick walls of Canterwood Crest academy, birds chirped above my head as if welcoming the new students. A snort snapped me out of my day dream, I turned to my American Paint horse gelding , Aztec. "Isn't it amazing boy" my voice rose with exitement, Aztec watched me prance in place. You're insane he seemed to say, I giggled one last time before tugging him along on the neon yellow lead.We manuvered around, what I assumed was Winchester, my dorm building. We continued down the sidewalk, Aztec's hoofs clopping against the stone. My jaw dropped when I caught a glimpse of the stables, it was built in an I-shape, ivy again on the red brick structure. Aztec's dark bay ears perked, his slow lazy walk instantly turning into a fast walk, eager to get in, entering the building the heat was replaced by cool air and the stone by wood. Aztec let out a low nicker, it seemed to echo, almost instantly he got a response. He raised his head, as if trying to peak over the stalls, "c'mon boy we'll look around later."
I finally coaxed him down the front aisle of stalls, golden name plates nailed to each of them. A tall man seemed to be directing a girl and her white horse to their stall. Once the girl lead her horse away the man turned to me.
"Hi, I'm your riding instructor, Mr. Conner" his cheery green eyes met my blue ones. "Hey, i'm Aaliyah Simons and this is Aztec" as if on cue Aztec put his head on my shoulder. Mr. Conner grinned at Aztec "nice to meet you both," his gaze returned to the clipboard. "Your stall is right here" he turned and patted the aisle stall. The front row of stalls were seperated by a walk way leading to the back stalls and Mr. Conners office.
Duh I mentally face palmed myself, Mr. Conner moved out of the way and I read the gold plate.
Aztec Warrior
Aztec
Owned/ ridden by: Aaliyah S.I smiled at the ingravement on the plate, trying not to squeal. I put him in the stall and unclipped his lead, I kissed his blaze. "Be a good boy, don't flirt to much" I winked at him before closing the stall door and walking out of the stable.
8 floors on the Winchester dorms made it the center of attention. But next to Winchester was an adorable little shop call the Sweet Shoppe. The big bay windows let the warm light seep out, leather white and blue booths and tables spread around the room. I need to stop in there sometime I nodded, agreeing with myself.
I pushed open the glass door, my mouth gaped open. Gold marble flooring shone as clearly as a mirror, hunter green walls seemed to carry on forever. "You'll catch flies like that" a voice interupted my state of awe. I jumped and faced the speaker, a blonde hair girl with reading glasses smiled at me, she seemed to me in her late 20's. She giggled then stuck out her hand, "hi i'm Livvie, your dorm advisor." "Hello, i'm Aaliyah Simons" I shook her hand, only for it to be replaced by a piece of paper.
"This is your dorm room and your schedule for the first semester." I glanced over the front side of the paper. "Ok thank you" I smiled at her politely then made my way to the elevators. Floor 5 room 12 I chanted over and over in my head, the elevator stopped on my floor and I scanned the room numbers for 12.
I found it at the end of the hallway, the whiteboard already had writing on it. Maya & I grabbed a blue marker and wrote Aaliyah. I opened our door to see my mom had already unpacked my stuff. 'My happy little pill' by Troye Sivan played a little to loud. "Hey" a shorter girl with dirty blonde hair jumped off of her claimed bunk, "I'm Maya Simpson." Shes so pretty I naturally fiddled with my dark brown hair. "Hi, i'm Aaliyah Simons" I smiled at her to get one back, we exchanged schedules to find that we have 4 out of 5 classes together.
After I put my floral comforter on my made bed Maya gasped. "Oh! Do you ride" I finally let out the squeal I had been holding in. "Yes" we jumped up and down, probably annoying the people under us. "Who do you have" she asked as we sat down on the white leather couch. "I own Aztec Warrior, you?" Maya's smile faded a little, "oh, I ride I See Fire, he's a stable horse." I frowned, "theres nothing wrong with not owning a horse." She shook her head "I know, I don't even know why I thought that."
An hour later at 9 Livvie peeked her head in, "girls, lights out." I sighed "ok" we climbed into our bunks and got comfortable. I turned off my blue Iphone 5c and layed on my back. "Night, Maya" I called out, "good night, Aaliyah" I smiled, happy that I had a good friend on the first day. Slowly sleep filled my eyes and mind, eventually taking over.
