Maehara Hatomi

She dreaded going to the main building for the monthly assembly. She would have no way of avoiding certain people. She did not want to show up there at all.

She just knew it would be hell, everyone in 3-E knew it would be hell. The main building students would never miss a chance to humiliate them.

Yukimura Sensei tried to make it sound fun and get the students to all go, but it didn't work. Not one of the students were convinced by her words. They all understood her effort but it was useless. Not when they have experienced the discrimination beforehand. At least she was trying to help them, it was better than nothing. It was the effort that counts.

Isogai and Kataoka were busy trying to get everyone ready to head down the mountain. Heading down was always the most tiring part of every school day. The mountain was extremely high, making it perfect for hiking and torturing the students of 3-E. She did not want to go there at all. Sure, Rena might be one of the few people who were still nice to her even after what happened, she couldn't possibly stop everyone else from speaking.

She could only hide and hope that neither Isogai nor Kataoka finds her and drags her out to the main building. Could she lock herself in the toilet? Nah that place stinks. It smelled like nobody had cleaned it in years and a dead, decomposing body used to be in there. Purely disgusting.

"Hatomi?" The familiar voice of Isogai rang throughout the school. Dang.

Please don't look for me in the toilet

Hopefully he would just go and give up. Hatomi didn't care about punishment, she just did not want to show up there, infront of all those stupid faces. She did not want to hear their stupid words mixed up with their stupid voice.

"Where did you go?" He asked once more, his voice now sounded closer to the toilet. She could hear the sounds of his gentle footsteps approaching the toilet.

"Everyone is already on their way," he announced once again.

She just hoped for him to be on his way out. She did not want to be dragged out. Just please go.

His soft footsteps were getting closer and closer. There was no way out. She would simply have to force herself to be there. "Found you!" Isogai greeted her with a smile on his face as the door opened. "Why aren't you with the others?" He asked while motioning for her to exit.

"I didn't want to go," Hatomi responded, pointing out the obvious. "Figured you'd realise it."

Isogai scratched the back of his neck as he entered the toilet. "Yeah I figured. We grew up together, I know what you're thinking. But you'll have to deal with it eventually, I'll help you with it!"

"You make it sound so easy," Hatomi muttered.

"You don't have to shoulder it alone, we're friends," Isogai reached his hands out and held Hatomi's arm gently, slowly leading her out of the toilet. "I am always here if you need me."

"Thanks," Hatomi muttered back as they made their way down the mountain, they were clearly late for the morning assembly. The way down has never felt so long and dreading to Hatomi before. But she felt more relaxed with Isogai walking into a huge disaster with her.
