My first thought was to tell Steel but Dash didn't agree with my plan. He said Steel's busy with something. He didn't say what, though but I guess it had to do something with the look back in the cafeteria.

"Then, what should we do?" I pried.

"Keep your eyes peeled. Report to me everything you find suspicious. We investigate on our own for now."

Dash was about to leave when I pulled his sleeve. "Wait. I'm not going to be a sitting duck. Why can't we just tell him about this instead of playing detective? He'll do something about it, I know."

He sighed and rubbed his head. I really thought that he'd go along with my 'tell to Steel plan'. The fact that he didn't makes him suspicious. I let go of his sleeve and stared at him.

"What?" He looked at me. "Oh no. Don't you think you've passed the point of suspecting me?"

The guy was a psychic. "Well, why are you stopping me from telling Steel?"

He sighed again. I told myself to start counting his sighs. "Promise me you won't ask anything after I tell you."

I looked at him sideways. "You're not trying to trick me, are you?"

"Just promise!"

"Okay fine! I promise!"

Dash ran his hand through his hair. "This is confidential. I'm not even allowed to say this but he's in a hot seat right now. He has a lot on his plate. The Council... kept on hitting his head about an issue."

I raised an eyebrow. "The Council?"

"They're the pioneers of the Resistance. They don't show themselves. The Sergeants do the talking."

I had no idea that there was an organization called the Council. Probably, they were the ones who stay in the Office. I thought there were only Sergeants.

We continued to walk away from the room. "So why-"

Dash wiggled his finger. "Uh-uh. You promised."

I rolled my eyes. I knew it was a trap. "So what's the plan?"

He smiled nonchalantly. "We wait and observe."

I froze. "I'm screwed."

Then, he looked back at me with his eyes sparkling. "And train."

************

It was my first time to actually train in the training room. Dash said it was important to learn how to fight in case something happens. He developed a program that would strengthen my muscles and improve my endurance. Sometimes, he would watch me do sit-ups and push-ups while taking sips from his smoothie. I knew he does it to tease me, motivating me to finish my program but there were times I wanted togive him a bath with that smoothie. Within my first week of training, there were no signs of any attack. This was actually a part of Dash's plan. He wanted to train me and at the same time, keep someone from attacking me. No one would dare to attack me in the open. It was hitting two birds with one stone.

My training continued for three more weeks and I had to admit that it wasn't easy. There were a lot of times when I thought I would pass out but Dash would always whisper in my ear the magic words, 'Remember your mom'. Somehow, those words would awaken something inside me and the energy would just surge through me. Those words motivated me to do impossible things. Those words kept me alive.

"Catch!"

I looked behind and reflexively raised my hands as if to catch something. A gun landed on my hands.
