Starfire

Super Hero training, according to Diana, seems to be a lot of things. Its a way of thinking. It's procedures and guidelins, honestly I think that's a long way of saying rules. But mostly right now it's cleaning.
Meeting up with the grumpy lumpy boy I'd played toss with, his name is Kimichi, we were taken to a place called Jump City. Specifically to Coal Hill School. A bunch of derelict buildings covered with plants and more broken than my cell had been.

"I know I didn't smash this place? Why are we having to fix it?" I demanded. "It's not my problem!"

"Not my problem, is why. A lot of super heroing is making things that aren't your problem, be your problem!"

The boy named Robin was with us, along with a yellow haired girl who beamed like the sun, a grumpy girl who was moving debris using a machine and the teacher Diane.

"Specifically, this school was smashed up during an altercation. The new hero Spotty-man-" she groaned quietly, rolling her eyes upward, "was chasing swamp think through the school. He decided damaging the buildings was fine! The students who go here are having to catch a train across the city to school. And we need to clean up the dangerous parts before Cundall can come in!"

We were working while complaining. That was also something heroic. So she said.
"I thought we would have some cool base! Like a tower,  or a bunker in a mountain.  Catch!'' Supergirl and me were ferrying large chunks of roof that Lena threw up through the hole,  dumping them off to one side.

"Maybe someday. For now, we have the dorms here. Once we're finished cleaning and you strong destructive types have some practice in, there's a place lined up for us near the coast.

"Nice! I like the sea, it's big and wet! Did you know that parts of it are really deep!" I asked.

Supergirl was giving me another of her weird looks.
"Honestly, I know it but I never really wondered.  Hey, you survived in space right? For super long? Could you survive underwater like that?"
I shrugged.

"Underwater isn't any bigger than anywhere else." Kimichi laughed us off, "There are lots a people on this planet who live in the ocean.  Like full time. But pressure, pressure can hurt or even kill you easily." His voice sounded sad, and I wondered which kind of pressure he meant.

"Anyhow!" Diana cut in, hopefully amused at our fast work.  "When not working we'll do some actual homework. The league runs on reports and briefings nowadays. We're going to have you four go over all the incidents with the Inscrutable Machine.  You're also going to train to spot things like this.  Remember that a hero's job is to protect civilians, not catch bad guys. The catching people comes second.  Careless fights like what happened here can ruin lives."

"Yes Dianna". We all answered in unison. I think this woman likes to teach people.  She talks really well.

Good as her word, after the dusty work we went back to the dorms. We showered, Lena had got the water working but it was not hot.  I was told it should have been hot.
"Are you sure you don't want me to help, supergirl?" I asked.
"Call me Kara. Or Linda. And no, Star, no get out of my stall!"
She was being difficult, there was bits of rock in her hair and she was having trouble getting them out. "But it would be easier to get clean if we helped each other!"

I was firmly told "No" again by both the girls. I made a solid harrumph sound.  "Then maybe I should check in the boys" I moved to leave.
"NO!"
"And if you leave, put that leotard back on."

"Aaaaah" I tried to be dramatic, but I was smiling to much to sound mad. "Why do humans have so many rules". I demanded, but did as told, then met up with the others to Study.

This became a routine for our time at the school.  Work. Study. Occasionally we would have fake battles, and when not doing that I tried to help everyone with their hobbies.
Lena messed with her machines. Supergirl and Kimichi would throw each other around.  What Kimichi called Wrestling. And Robin studied more.  Read everything, or sat in his room making music.

Robin is very smart, he still blushes when we talk sometimes.  Even though I am wearing clothes.  Lena says this is a good thing but that when he stops blushing it will mean he really likes me.
"You mean how you like Kara?" I had enquired.
I think that was the wrong thing to say cause she fired her weapon at me again and Diana had to tell us off for damaging the school more.

It was four days later when Wonder Woman took us out for our first Mission.
