I fell in love with Orpheus,
You were my Eurydice
I fell in love with a mirror,
Perfect and whole
She was everything I'd dreamt of
Everything I'd hold
In the end
She wasn't enough
I had to let her goShe slipped from my grasp
With a gasp
Cried as her body shuddered
To the ground,
Shadows danced like a prized hound
Swarming, swirling
Twirling to goThey consumed her
The devious fires of hell
Her screams a melancholy tune
A discordant melody
That echoed in my ears,
Reverberating
As I fell
One last time.
