Nearly ten years had passed since (M/N) had woken up to find his nephew on the front step. The house was now covered in photographs of Harry growing up throughout the years and of the two of them together. Harry was sleeping in his room when he was awoken by the smell of breakfast being cooked. His uncle always made the best breakfast. He happily ran to the kitchen, where (M/N) was flipping pancakes and laughing at his impatient nephew. "Hold on, they're not ready yet!" He laughed as the young boy pouted. "But it smells so good! Please?" Harry gave the older man his puppy eyes, which was guaranteed to always work. Knowing the game by now, (M/N) pulled out the already made, but still hot, breakfast that finished just a few seconds before. "You're lucky I love ya." The man joked as Harry squealed in delight while grabbing the plate. "Thank you, Uncle Bear!" He smiled sweetly as he made his way to the table to eat while (M/N) finished cooking. Once done, he joined Harry at the dining room table. "So, I have today off. I was thinking we go on a hike after breakfast, then you can decide where we have lunch, and afterwards we'd go to the zoo. When we're done, we'll see where the day takes us, how's that sound?" "Ok!!" The boy agreed, his mouth stuffed full of bacon and pancakes.
POV change
After a hike through the woods, we ended up eating lunch at a Japanese hibachi grill called Yamamoto's. We got miso soup, salad, friend rice, and mixed vegetables. He got ribeye steak, while I ordered Mako Shark steak (it's real and really good). We happily watched as the chef did tricks while he cooked, clapping along with the other customers. When we finished, we got in my car and I drove us to the zoo, Harry bouncing in the backseat with a broad grin on his face. He always loved the zoo, especially the snakes. He would talk to them all the time. This year, I've been thinking of getting him a pet snake.
It was a very sunny Saturday, and the zoo was crowded with families. Since it was so hot, I bought us both large chocolate ice creams at the entrance and we ate them as we walked around, looking at all the animals. Once we had already seen all the mammals and birds, we made our way to the reptile house. It was cool and dark in there, with lit windows all along the walls. Behind the glass, all sorts of lizards and snakes were crawling and slithering over bits of wood and stone. I smiled as Harry ran around, a large grin on his face. He quickly found the largest snake in the place. It was a very large Brazilian boa constrictor, and it seemed to be sleeping. A boy was knocking on the glass to get it to wake up, but the snake didn't budge. I simply smiled as the boy whined to his parents before shuffling away, them following closely behind. Harry immediately took his place in front of the snake. He began hissing, greeting the slithery creature he's dubbed 'Hydra'. The snake suddenly opened its beady eyes, perking up to see Harry. They talked, well hissed, for awhile, before the boy from earlier came barreling back, knocking Harry to the ground. "Harry!" I knelt down to help him up, when I heard the other boy screaming in terror. Looking up, I saw what had frightened him instantly; the glass front of the boa constrictor's tank had vanished. The great snake was uncoiling itself rapidly, slithering out onto the floor. People throughout the reptile house screamed and started running for the exits. Hydra came over to Harry, they talked for a bit, then the snake nipped playfully at the other boy's ankles as it went past, scaring the boy and his mother even more. "Bye, Hydra. Have fun on your adventure." I waved to the snake as it left. "He said that he's going to visit Brazil." "I hope he likes it there." "Me too." The keeper of the reptile house was in shock. "But the glass," he kept saying, "where did the glass go?"
