I sat on a cushion on the floor of the main building at the Metropolitan Curse Technical College's Tokyo location. Next to me, my uncle and sister sat on cushions, each one of us making a cursed doll. Edith Piaf's Greatest Hits played softly in the background. Business as usual.

I tried to concentrate on my strange, squirrel-looking critter of a doll, but something was bugging me: the one single memory I could never seem to place. It wasn't of a place or a person, but of a voice. A feminine voice, that was saying "I love you so much, my daughter. Don't ever let them take your heart". Nothing more, nothing less. What did that even mean? Who was speaking? Were they speaking to me, or to someone else and I was just eavesdropping? I needed to know!

"I know I'm the child of prophecy and I was born give-or-take a thousand years ago, but who were my parents?" I asked. Lani frowned. My uncle snorted, but said nothing.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"Who were my biological parents?" I carefully amended my previous question.

"I figured this might come up." Uncle smiled casually. "I'm a bit surprised that you're only asking now."

"So you know?" I pressed eagerly.

"For the most part." My uncle said evasively.

"Please tell me!" I pleaded, giving him a plaintive stare.

"Are you sure, you might not like what you hear."my uncle gave me a funny sideways look.

"I don't have to like it, I have to know." I replied hotly.

"Whoa there, cool it." Lani smiled, looking half amused, half apprehensive. Then she shouted "Not it!"

Uncle Masimichi pointed at her in an accusatory way, even though he looked as thought he was about to laugh.

"That was low." He said. "Kemuri, we only know for sure who your father was. I can't tell you your mother is because we don't know."

"And?" I said expectantly. "Who is my father?"

"Ryomen Sukuna." Uncle said solemnly.

"What?!" I shrieked. "The king of curses? The Ryomen Sukuna?!"

"Yep." Lani answered

Unconsciously, I squeezed my cursed doll and sent cursed energy flowing into it. The squirrel cirtter came to life and bit me hard in the kneecap.

"Ack!" I shouted, instinctively picking up the doll and chucking it into the fireplace. It caught fire very quickly and became ashes in a matter of seconds. Uncle Masimichi was shaking because he was trying to be polite and Lani was in a heap on the ground, laughing so hard she was snorting.

It took them both a while to calm down (Lani was still giggling a bit), but when they did, the coversation turned back to my parents.

"You know, it's half cool and half really not cool to have Sukuna as a dad. He was super powerful, sure, but he also comitted a ton of murder so..." I trailed off, "There are plusses and minuses to everything, I guess."

"You're taking this quite well." Lani said, looking kind of confused. I shrugged, and my uncle laughed.

"You'll make a great sorcerer with that attitude!" He boomed, clapping me on the back and sending me flying.

"Ow." I groaned, picking myself up off the floor. I sat back on my cushion and grabbed some more doll materials.

"You're sure you don't know who my mother is?" I asked hopefully. My uncle shook his head.

"We have suspicions and theories, but nothing solid." He replied.

"Shoot." I frowned, aggressively stabbing the needle and thread into a pincushion. "Do we know who will be attending the College in my year?"

"Toge Inumaki, Panda and possibly Maki Zen'in." Lani replied, her focus on the large stuffed whale in her lap that she was embellishing with tattau designs.

"Huh." I grunted. 'I hope we can be friends, I wonder what that's like' I thought to myself.
