The great war...A frightening topic.
You had heard millions of stories from your father and the other males around the District.
The story of the great war is not for the faint of heart... Humans are now extinct because of it, but monsters now have become more advanced and civilized.
Civilized enough to have divided the land peacefully into three kingdoms, the District, DreemLand and Terre D'eau. The three kingdom's have almost never had any conflict. The three war heroes, Asgore Dreemurr, king of DreemLand, Azulyn triten, King of terre d'eau, and Elik (L/n), king of the District.
You being but a teenager, knew nothing but stories from the war. Your father loved telling you stories about his battle scars, some scared you, like the stories of how powerful the humans were. If it hadn't been for the element of surprise and for their resourcefulness the monsters never would have beat the humans.
Because the humans had something no monster has ever been able to possess, Determination. When the monsters killed off the humans, they killed off every ounce of determination as well.
You knew all of this already, you had always believed the wise-tales your father had told you; Stay away from Ebbott, where they disposed of the dead human bodies. To never go off in the woods near Mt. Ebbott and always remembers humans are extinct so don't try to find them.
The last one was always sort of strange, but hey, overprotective dads always have strange rules, right?
It was kind of understandable for him to be so overprotective, seeing as in a year you'll be running the kingdom.
Well, "Running", really the monarch means nothing; each part of the District has it's own official, that the king or Queen gets to choose. The officials have to report to the King or Queen and they get the final say in anything like sentences, executions and other forms of punishments; like torture.
Yep, soon you will take on the title of Queen. You didn't like it but there was one thing standing in your way, marriage.
How cliché, right?
If you didn't find a husband in at maximum nine months, then you will have to by law, either be killed or banished.
Marriage scared you but not as much as those sentences scared you. You had looked for a husband, nobles and lords had lined up at your door, hoping they could be chosen for the next King... However none prevailed, they were all the same, selfish, dull, rude, the list goes on and on.
You wanted a sweet, gentle, charismatic man, one who really loved you, not just your title.
It outraged your mother that you rejected every suitor that came to the door, but not your father, to be frank your father didn't like any of them either. Your mother always had been a perfectionist, she herself had been the daughter of a Nobel, before marrying your father, now she's the queen.
But Being a Nobel she was right under the royal family in wealth, so she would have never had it badly, but she wanted more. She always wants more, even in your life, you get to make no decision as long as your mother is around.
Your father always hated that about your mother, but he loved her nevertheless. Your three other siblings sort of prove that, seeing as your dad was a war hero as much as a king it was amazing how he chose your mom, from all the other women who flocked near him.
That's enough of that history lesson, you put down the old book, "Autobiography of King Elik"
