2. The Escape

TAMARA

I sat quietly in Breannas room and listened to her as she argued with her mom. Her mom didnt want Breanna to come with me while I ran away from my dad. But being Breanna, she will undoubtedly insist on coming with me.

Brea's parents had already offered me their vacation home to stay in while I was still in hiding. But Brea wouldn't let me go there alone because she was afraid I might get depressed and I might think something terrible to do to myself. As if the problem that I'm going through right now isn't bad enough, right?

Breanna has been my best friend since we were in high school. She knew me very well and knew that I could not live alone in a remote place. But even so, I didn't want her and her family to get involved in my quarrel with Dad.

Brea and her family are reasonable people, and I don't want to abuse their kindness, so I refused Breas offer. I knew that her parents would only worry about her, and I didnt want that to happen just because of me.

But here she is, arguing with Aunt Anna because she is too worried that I will be alone.

Moments later, I heard her heavy footsteps from outside approaching the bedroom, so I sat comfortably on the couch next to the bed. Next is the opening of the door. She was frowning and looking very annoyed as she sat down on the edge of her bed. It means Aunt Anna disagreed with what she wanted.

I took a deep breath before getting up from the couch and sitting on the bed next to her.

I'm sorry, mama won't let me leave. The sadness in her voice seemed like a warm hand caressing my heart. It makes me feel better because I know there is someone who truly cares and loves me.

Its okay. I know you're just here for me, so I'll be okay. Facing me with tears in her eyes. I began to cry.

The truth is, I feel so scared because I dont know what will happen to me next. How can I live alone? Will I be able to live without any help? Those are just some of the questions swirling in my head. I couldn't ask Brea this because it would make her even more worried, and she also might think of running away from her family just to be with me. You know, sometimes she's crazy...a good kind of crazy.

In the afternoon, Brea took me to the airport. Her parents also gave me some money, so I left my atm cards with Brea. I found out that the cellphone network that I was using had a signal there, so I would just call Brea when I needed some extra money again.

I knew Dad would know where I was right away, so I needed to get away as soon as possible. Fortunately, Curtiz's vacation home is in a secluded area that people have hardly visited yet, so somehow I felt reassured that I would be safe from my father.

***********

I couldnt help but be amazed to see how small my plane was. Fifty people can't seem to get on the plane. I was even more nervous when I noticed some parts of it were rusting. Some paints were removed or just gone. It looks like a hundred-year-old plane. Is it still flying?

I wanted to get away, but there was no other way to get to where I was going.

Because of fear for my dearest life, I couldn't help but ask the man walking in front of me before he could climb the plane ramp to board the plane. Hey, excuse me. I tapped him on the shoulder.

He immediately turned to face me with a raised eyebrow. Yes? It didn't escape my sight when he checked on me.

I was also stunned for a moment by staring into his dark brown eyes. He has a very handsome face. His nose is just right. And his eyes so sexy.

Gosh hes so unreal. Why so handsome?

He stares at me with his cold eyes. Are you just going to stare, or what? He asked in a threatening tone. I can feel his irritation. Gosh, it's embarrassing.

I have a question. I cleared my throat so he wouldn't notice the nervousness in my voice. "I-Is that thing still- flying?" But I'm not good at hiding my emotions, so the fear is still evident in my voice.

He frowned for a few seconds, but a smirk immediately replaced it.

So he knows how to smile? Gosh.

Do you mean the plane? He gave me a funny look.

I gulped a few times. Uh-huh. I swallowed as I waited for him to answer.

He smirked again and stared at my eyes intently, "Don't worry, it may look like trash, but it's safe. I guess?" He said while tilting his head to one side. And he still doesn't take his gaze off my eyes. I suddenly felt anxious about how I looked now. It was as if he was studying my face.

O-Okay, thank you. I smiled in response.

I thought the man wouldn't answer me anymore because he had just turned his back on me and was already up the ramp, so I was surprised when he suddenly turned around again to face me as he arrived at the plane's door. No, biggie. But don't be so picky, especially when you actually don't have any other choice. He said while staring at me blankly and then turned away again.

What was that for? Gosh, he would have been so handsome, but it looks like something is wrong with his head, especially in his attitude. He's one hot- arrogant- ass!

I let out a deep sigh and boarded the plane as well.

And I secretly prayed to God to help me cope with all the ordeals that I will be facing alone in the future.

And because the plane was small, Tamara quickly found her assigned seat. But her small eyes widened when she found out who was sitting in the chair next to her.

Holy shit.- Mara whispered in the back of her mind.

Mara looked at the boarding pass to determine how long their flight would take. And she winced when she learned that they would be on the air for two and a half hours. It also means she would spend quite a long time next to the man whose eyes are like ice when staring.

But she doesn't have a choice, does she?

What? The man raised an eyebrow at her as he noticed her staring at him.

She wants to roll her eyes at him, but she restrains herself. She let out a deep sigh before approaching her chair. Excuse me, thats my seat. She couldn't hide the annoyance in her voice when she saw the man's leather briefcase bag was sitting on her seat.

She didn't want to complain, but she couldn't hide her annoyance. So much has happened to her today. So she is not in the mood to be a goody goody, especially with the arrogant man in front of him now?

The man just gave her a cold stare before he took the bag from the seat and placed it in the compartment on top of them, and without saying a word, he slumped back in his chair.

Goodness. She mumbled.

The guy frowned. You, saying something? He asked in a harsh voice.

Shameless! The nerve of this man to have the gut to get annoyed. And what's up today? Why did my misfortune have to happen on the same day? Why am I so unlucky? She thought to herself.
