----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Five hundred years ago, two werewolves were born in two different villages. One was born into a family of warriors, while the other one was born as a son of a lone wolf and a warrior who left their pack. The two werewolves lived happily with their family, but a tragedy caused them to lose their parents at a young age.

Lan Wangji was born as the son of two warriors in a village of werewolves. During his birth, a blood moon appeared, but since it was the first time it happened, the elders didn’t think much of it.

When Wangji reached the age of seven, his father began training him to be a warrior. At first, he seemed like the other pups his age, but as time passed, he began showing extraordinary abilities. The alpha saw potential in him, that’s why he appointed him as the lead warrior at the age of fifteen.

His life at the village was close to perfect, but a tragic event shattered his whole world. Once, when he was on the pack border with a few sentinels and scouts, a group of enemies attacked. Unknown to him, some managed to sneak inside while he was busy battling the intruders.

The battle lasted until dawn, so when it was over, he and his comrades were covered in blood. Wanting to make sure that no one was harmed in the village, they hurriedly went inside. However, they haven’t reached the center yet, when they noticed that one house was surrounded with their pack mates.

What happened? Wangji asked, but the werewolves didn’t answer him. A few seconds later, two bodies were brought out. Upon seeing who they were, the lead warrior burst into tears. In front of him was his parents’ bodies.

Who? Who did this? He angrily asked, looking at the ones surrounding him. All of them looked down, not uttering a single word.

I repeat, who did this to them? He blurted. A few moments past, and an omega pup managed to spoke up. I saw two humans enter the village earlier, so I secretly followed them and ended up in Lead Wangji’s house. I saw how the humans bounded them in iron chains. And… and they… The kid could no longer continue telling what he witnessed, so another werewolf continued.

This pup did his best to warn everybody about the intruders, but when we arrived, it was already too late. We managed to eliminate those two, but we no longer could save your parents. Both the Salutaries and the Healers tried their best, but the iron that was injected in their body already did so much damage. Were sorry, we couldn’t save them. All the werewolves then bowed their heads.

I see. Thank you for telling me. And none of this was your fault, you already did what you could and I am grateful for that, but please, let me avenge my parents and our fellow pack mates, who are no longer with us… alone. Wangji said, before heading out to search for the remaining enemies.

Those who followed him, witnessed his true ability. That day, they saw how he ended the enemies lives, one by one. The elders who managed to catch up along with the Alpha and Beta, witnessed how Lan Wangji’s eyes changed color- from dark brown to bloody red, just like the moon during his birth.

Just one look in his eyes, he punished the humans by making them suffer the pain of transforming into a werewolf. The pain was unbearable for them to handle, but a few managed to transform. Yet alas, they weren’t even spared.

All those who followed, witnessed it all. The way he made them suffer. The way he ended their lives. And most of all, his true ability.

The minute it was over, they quickly approached Wangji. They wanted to take him back to the pack but he refused.

“I am grateful for all the things you’ve done for me and my family, but I want to leave the pack. You all witnessed what I am capable of doing, so I am afraid that I might harm you all once I lose control. I have already avenged our loved ones who lost their lives due to battle, thus I can say that I’ve already fulfilled my duty to the pack.”
