If you've already read this book just know I've edited it and changed a couple of things in the story In order to make it more you know Um efficient....at least I think that's the word for it but have fun and enjoy!!!

Katie's POV

I wake to the sound of my roommate/best friend banging on my door.

"Katie hurry up we have to go look for jobs."

Rolling my eyes I get up and say "Fine I'm awake I'm going to take a shower, I expect breakfast to be ready when I'm out and dressed."

"Wait huh?" Emily says

Smiling I yell "Thanks Em!" And shut the door to my bathroom which is in my room.

Once I've finished and have gotten ready I go downstairs to see Emily, my best friend making us coffee and some pancakes.

"Why thank you." I say while taking the eggs she was about to eat.

"They weren't for you." She says while I laugh and eat them.

Once we're done eating our breakfast we start heading out to look for jobs.

I hope I can find one on such a short notice. Emily was lucky she found the job of her dreams.

She's a hair stylist so her job is never boring, how i'd kill to be in her spot but I can't do hair for shit. I legit suck at it ask Em she'll even tell you that.

New York City is full of opportunities. Is what someone who actual has a shot would say. I already feel like giving up and we just got started.

Emily continues to point jobs out to me but none of them seem appealing.

"How about being a waitress?" She says as we stop in front of a restaurant sign that says "help needed"

I sigh "I don't want to be a waitress I want a job I'll actually enjoy."

"This'll be a long day." Emily says while laughing

I don't even know why she's here.  "Emily you know you don't even have to be here right?." I ask her.

"Yeah but what kind of best friend would I be if I let oh come out here by yourself?"

I laugh "yeah good point." She really doesn't have to be here, but it's her day off and she wanted to help even though she's constantly complaining.

We walk around for what seems like hours and hours when out of the blue Emily says "Let's go to the park."

"Aren't we supposed to be job hunting?" I ask

"Ugh but we've been doing this for the longest and it's boring." Emily says well more like whines.

"Fine let's take a break." I say giving in. Emily smiles and claps her hands while jumping up and down like a little girl.

She grabs my hands and literally drags me across the street to the Central Park that was luckily across the street from my favorite book shop.

"Em I'll be right back in going to check and see if there's any books in there that I haven't read yet." I say pulling my hand out of her grip.

"I doubt it since you read like all day everyday but okay I'll be walking around while you go do whatever you do with books." She says as I walk away laughing.

"You know it won't kill you to sit down once in a while and read a book also."

"Over my dead body." Emily said running.

I continue laughing while walking over to the store.  I opened the door and went in. Right away I saw Greg the owner of the shop with his granddaughter Sophie, helping her read a book. The sight made my heart melt into pieces. Greg was always such an amazing person, so was Sophie.

He noticed someone had entered the library and looked my way. His face immediately brightened and he gave me his signature smile.

"Katie dear how have you been?" He asked embracing me in a hug. "I've been okay." I said smiling and hugging him back. As soon as he let me go Sophie jumped into my arms and I spin her around making her giggle as smile while begging me to stop.

I put Sophie down and asked her how she was doing. "I'm doing okay, I have missed you Katie and papa was teaching me how to read my favorite book."

"Oh really is that so? What's the book called?" I asked looking down at her. "Uhh, umm, it's called  er, awh darn it I forgot." She said stomping her feet and pouting at me.

I smiled at her, "It's okay Soph." She smiled up at me showing that her two front teeth are missing. She was wearing a yellow dress and had pig tail braids.

I turned back to Greg and he said "Is there anything I can get you today?"

"I actually came to ask if any new shipments came, I've been wanting a good read for a while now." I said smiling at him.

"You're just in luck there was a new shipment of Looking For Alaska by John Green, I reckon you read it it's, well I'm not gonna spoil it for you but just know John Green never disappoints."

"I've been meaning to read that, so you mind getting me a copy?" I asked excited "No not at all just you wait here with Sophie and I'll be back in a jiffy."

"Alright."

I started talking to Sophie about her book and she told me she remembered what it was called. When I asked her what it was she looked up at me and said "It's called Clifford The Big Red Dog." I couldn't help but smile at her. The way she said it was too cute. Greg came back with the book and handed it to me. I was already excited to read it.

"How much do I owe you Greg?." I asked getting my wallet out of my back pocket and getting some money out. He dismissed my money and my outstretched hand and said "Nonsense you don't owe me anything."

"Are you sure Greg?" I asked hoping he would change his mind but all he said was "Yes it's on the house."

I sighed "Alright thank you Greg." I said kissing his cheek and then bending down to give Sophie a kiss and a bone crushing hug, not really I didn't want to kill the little girl. I said my goodbyes to them and left.

I headed across the street to see Emily standing there waiting patiently for me. "Took you long enough." She said "Hey time flies when you're reading books." I said smiling at her. She laughed and said "Whatever you say Kate."

We started walking down the sidewalk when all of a sudden Em said "It's dark now we should head back home." At first I was confused but then I noticed my surroundings and took in the fact that it was dark. Wow time really does fly whilst you're reading a book. I turn to her and say "Yeah let's head back."

So much for finding a job today, I thought as we were walking home.

A/N

Hey guys, I know it's been a while since I updated anything but I'm back now. I'd just needed to fix some things in the book because I realized it was honestly just a mess. I had no idea where I was taking the book but now I'm a little more clear on where it's going. I hope you all enjoy it. I changed a lot of things for those of you who've already read it.
I'd really appreciate it if you all
