Chapter 2

Katie's POV

Once again I wake to sound of my door being banged on.

My room mate really should let me sleep.

"Katie Savannah Smith open this door right this instance!" I groan.

"Wait a minute." I get out of bed to open the door. Before I even get to speak she shoves an envelope in my face.

"What is this?" I look at her confusion evident on my face. She continues "Why didn't you tell me you applied for a job?"

"Oh" I say as I look at her sheepishly. "Well I didn't know if they'd even give me the time of day since it's such a huge company, I just thought it was worth a shot."

"You could have at least informed me you know, it's not nice to keep me in the out." She said

"Okay, I'm sorry but what does the letter say?"

"Uhh I don't know I haven't opened it yet." She said handing it to me. I looked at it and hesitantly opened it. I stared at it shocked. That can't be right can it? Are my eyes and brain playing tricks on me? "What does it say?" Em asked. "Check for yourself." I said while handing her the letter.

"Well it looks like you might have a chance of actually getting a job after how long we've been looking." I mentally snorted at that, she meant are how long I've been looking. "What time does it say I have to be there for the interview an when is it again?" I ask. 

She looks confused for a sec then opens the envelope and says "8:30 am tomorrow at Jackson's Co." "Okay" I say

"May I go back to sleep now Em?" She looks at me with a duh face and then she goes back downstairs.

Sometimes I wonder why we're even best friends we're so different, she's fun, likes to go out, and never doubts herself while I'm shy and I always like to stay in but she's like a sister to me she was there for me when my parents died when I was nine.

We've been friends ever since her, me, and my younger brother Jace he's still in college.

When I wake up later on that day I find that Em has gone to work since it's Wednesday and she actually has a job to go to.  I plopped back down on my bed and decided to read a little of Looking For Alaska. I read some of it last night before going to bed and it got me hooked. I didn't even want to put the book down at first. I read five chapters and decided that that was enough for today. I secretly feel like I'm just like Alaska, well minus all of the smoking and stuff, but I really do like books.

I realize I'm still stuck all by myself at home, so I decided to go for a walk since  I have nothing to do.

I end up in my favorite coffee shop where my friend Danny works.

He owns the shop so he's never really working there. Lucky him with his lazy self I wonder how his employees haven't a complained about that yet, I suppose they just keep their mouths shut because they don't want to be out of a job, Danny can be a nice guy at times but he's as cruel as a shark sometimes if you ask me, because trust me I would know. I've been on his bad side one too many times.

Every time I see him he's always watching his employees which seems like a nice job to me since he doesn't have to do anything.

As soon as he sees me he comes and gives me a hug.

"Hey kate" he says. "Hey Danny how've you been ?"

"Great you?"

"I've been better" I say. "So I take it the job hunting is not going that well?"

I groan in response "You could always come work here you know."

Ugh not this again.

Every time I see him he always asks but I decline because working in a coffee shop is not what I wanted to do.

I've always been a business type of girl. "I'm fine I actually have a job interview tomorrow so we'll see how that goes."

I grin remembering the interview. Maybe I'll finally have a job after tomorrow.

After I say my good byes to Danny I'm heading out the door when I bump into someone and I spill my coffee.

Only when I look up and see his beautiful face is when I turn red with embarrassment. He smirks and says "Done checking me out yet?" I blush and say "I'm sorry for spilling my coffee on you."

The smirk disappears and he says "Just watch where you're going next time you nearly ruined my million dollar suit!"

I was furious now he didn't even say sorry for bumping into me he just walked by me.

"Well you need to watch where you're going because if I remember correctly you were the one who saw me coming I was facing the opposite way jerk!"

And with that I storm out of the coffee shop and head back home.

When I get home I find Em sitting on the couch watching tv.

"Hey" she says

"Hey Em you'll never guess what just happened!"

With that said she turns around and looks at me with a curious face

"Oh what happened?" So I tell her how I went to Danny's shop to get some coffee and what happened when I was leaving with that beautiful but an ass of a person.

After I'm done, she says "Wow I leave you alone for a couple of hours and you already get in trouble with some one."

With a hint of sarcasm on my face I say "Oh shut up."

Then I go to my room and get changed.

Fifteen minutes later Emily comes in my room putting her baby face on and says "You wanna watch girly movies with me and eat popcorn in our pjs?"

It was soo cute I couldn't say no

"Aw of course sweetie."

So for the rest of the day we stayed up watching movies and talking about our day until finally Em got tired and we went to sleep.
