2,000 years ago in a continent that was split in three in the grand war. The land of the east, The Districts of the Elian, tried to take over the Lands of Drogo of the Spirits. The Elian's King, King Walter Cala, wanted everything that was turned to gold by the sun's light. He would take over the west, use their connections with the spirits and take over Aathmika, the land of the Fae.Oberon of Aathmika heard of such ridiculous plans and told the king of Drogo, King Blanchet. They both weren't surprised that the greediest country in the world would try and start a war with them.
"The shapeshifters have told me that he was planning on going from the Northern Black Sea, dropping down from there into the mountains, with an attack on the temple first. They want to secure their chances of getting in with the spirits so he can take Aathmika," Oberon said with almost a joking undertone. "He really thinks that a kingdom of Fae is going to fall to a bunch of humans. That's almost laughable."
"This seems like something he would do. He brought down Elian's reputation. Turned his people greedy for more and more. I'd like to see him try," Blanchet said dryly, his hand on his chin. "What should we do about him?"
Oberon laughed aloud almost uncountable. "We? Who do you mean we? The only reason I told you was out of our treaties. I don't have to help you outside of that if I don't want to. My faes are above such a petty human war."
Blanchet's eyes rose to meets the Oberons. "What do you mean? You will not help us?"
"No. Our wars are over. My fae has found peace," Oberon said with a darkness to it. "And if anyone have the courage to breathe a word of war to me, I will split this in half." he gestured to the window leading to the east. And that's exactly what he did. King Cala had changed the plan after hearing talk of someone leaking information. He attacked from the south, taking each one of the Islands of Drogo. Oberon saw this and word cut through the country of how they were next. So he kept his promise and cut the continent in half with a forest covering Aathimika. He made the forest in hopes they'll all learn peace like the fae. And for every day that they don't, their people shall suffer and their kings along with them.
"Once one rises, the sun will set in the other. Two princes walk in, one kingdom walks out," The tellers told the kings, "Your sons will never rest till everything is right again. Every 18th birthday they shall walk-in, but what walks out will be the end to the war."
Over the thousands of years, each side has its own story of how the forest started. Why the forest was vengeful, how it expands and consumes by the day. People don't know about what happened to the war all those years ago but they do know what needs to happen for it to end.
