When Edith finally woke up, nobody was pleased. She sat up slowly, knowing her head would probably hurt.
All around her, disappointment covered the faces of the Jews around her.
Why? Why were they so upset? Edith knew she had gotten knocked out, and that wasn't necessarily good, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Finally, she gathered the courage to ask, "what's wrong?" A skinny, Jewish girl looked at Edith for a few seconds before answering, " you got knocked out." Edith made a confused face she knew this, but before she continued her thoughts, the girl interrupted, "you are weak, you gave us no hope."
Then Edith understood, these people needed hope. They wanted to believe that they could get out, but with every person that failed them, their souls fell even more.
