Born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, Dakota started her acting career at 13 first appearing on Shameless as Isa Gallagher. Just a year later Albescu has joined the cast of Vampire Diaries as Sophie Mikaelson. During 14 Albescu started modeling for large company names including Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Channel and many more. Dakota is the youngest in the world to appear on the Vouge Magazine and other front cover features.
Before Fame
Albescu went to a private boarding school for girls during her junior high grades before applying for Juliard where she went to school at such a young age. Graduated at 13 Dakota went back to her home in Romania before starting to act.
Family Life
Albescu's father was never in the picture ever since her mother filed for a divorce. At age 13 Albescu and her mother move to the US and became legal citizens. They now live in New York City. Her father has tried to come back into Albescu's life but now avail.

Albescu has been known to post on many media platforms like, Instagram and Twitter. She is usually seen with her friends and coworkers Cameron Monaghan and Jeremy Allen White who she co-stars with on Shameless. She has also reportedly been seen with Steven R. McQueen. In many Instagram posts Tom Holland is seen either commenting or even being in her posts. They are ofter calling each other best friends.
