Death is canceled for a while. My city turned out the safest in the country.

Remember that one the-only-one angsty Zen oneshot I ever wrote? Yeah, me neither. Well now, my dudes, it has a prequel!!

"Let's just run away."

"Where?"

"To Hollywood."

You glanced at Zen skeptically.
"You've been failing English since elementary."

"Somewhere by the sea, then. We'll move to a small town, sell my motorcycle. And just... start living."

"You're joking."

"I'm not."

"You can't be THAT naive."

The waves were crashing on the concrete shore, and the cold wind was blowing through your hair.

"I just dream big."

You shook your head, letting the sea air out of your lungs with a heavy sigh.

"There won't be much room for your creativity. You quit your part-time job, you fucking decided to not go to college so you could devote all your time to performing. And now you're saying you want to leave? You won't survive in the countryside."

"I may not survive in the city either."

You rolled your eyes at how dramatic he made it sound.
"Maybe should've graduated high school then."

"I haven't failed yet."

"Yet."

He huffed, acting offended.
"You're the one to talk! You haven't even chosen faculty yet. And it's almost time to apply~"

"No, shut up." you jokingly ruffled his hair. "Don't remind me of my god damn exams during my god damn holidays."

The cold wind was chilling to the bone, but there was no desire to go back to the house when you first arrived from the big city. And it was calmingly quiet. No crowds of people, as it usually is on the beach.

You leaned on the railing and looked at the rising sun somewhere in the distance, beyond the sea.

"You're always like that." you muttered "Dream big and think little."

"That's why you love me~"

"Yeah, sure." you huffed sarcastically.

"What? You do love me."

"Uh-huh."

Zen narrowed his eyes at you, and then hugged you tightly, not leaving a chance to resist.

"Don't you try lying~ I'm the actor here, not you."

You sighed in defeat, wrapping your arms around him.

More and more often over the past few months, he offered you to run away. Anywhere. From the other side of town to the other side of the world. By train, hitchhiking, or with a traveling circus.
