Altering yourself to
Associate with dominance
Shatter glass ceilings,
Rocket to opulence.
Absurdness’s extermination,
Caused by your own merits,
Sting of ostracism,
Difficult to bear it.
Even expiration’s greater
Than placement at the bottom,
Anything to escape
Finality of Flotsam
Hence the arrival of
Your moments as a stranger
But morphing lies in all of us
Everything changes.
... Yes, everything changes
Suns fall, moons rise,
Clock hands shift in wildness,
Seas and oceans overflow,
Peninsulas shrink to islands.
Like the earth before us,
We engage in reshaping,
Clinging to similitude,
Gripped by revision’s realization.
Despite knowledge of eventuality,
Men are foolishness embodied,
Believing in impermanence,
Chronos impotent and shoddy
But seeing your source of adoration,
Shed the skin of her magnificence,
Surely summons the beast of
Melancholy ambivalence
Conformity’s an aberration,
Repulsed by the strategy
Yet hard to resist excitement
From culmination of fantasy
... But still,
Something isn’t right.
So, idealism’s magic
Stays your hearts quickening pace,
Though does nothing for
Confusion on your face.
She’s perplexed, too
“Why don’t you love me?” she wonders
Tears waterfalling down her cheeks
Voice a resonant thunder.
Her exterior fits all you want,
Imparting self-assurance,
But the ramparts of your worldview
Cause Passion’s disappearance.
For you know it’s all a lie,
All before you is untruth
The acceptance of this fact
Marked advancement’s root.
At last, you answer her
Truth be luminescent,
“Falsehood has no place
While reality is present.”
