"Clear skies, yet the weatherman said it would rain. How stupid." Colen states as he walks home with Abby, Cason and Bella.
"Maybe you read it wrong, Colen. Plus, shouldn't no rain be a good thing? We don't want it raining down on the party~!" Bella sings in a joyes tone, per-usual. "Speaking of, when are we going to meet up tonight?"
"We'll meet at the park at 11, sounds good?" Abby asks her friends, stopping at Casons place.
"Sounds good to me, as long as my mom doesn't say no because of my report card!" Cason jokes around while walking to the door. The rest of the group agree as they part ways going home.

Abby makes it home within a few minutes, after her and her friends split up. She's yet to check her report card and does so as soon as she makes her way up to her room.
"Damn. I got a C in algebra." She says to herself.
"ABBY!" A voice yells from downstairs. "Let me see your report card, your teacher texted saying they were handed out!"
Crap. Abby sighs, "Coming mom!" as she grabs the paper. Upon reaching the end of the stairs she hands her stepmother, who was waiting for her at the bottom, the report card. She hopes she can get away with her grades due to having all A's except for one C in algebra. Her mother takes the paper for examination and looks disappointed in her.
"What is this shit?" She slaps Abby. "You're practically flunking math! Go email your teacher for additional help then give me your laptop. Don't bother coming down for dinner. It won't be waiting for you."
"Yes mother." As she goes back to her room, Abby brushes it off due to the constant abuse she's gone through because of her stepmother.
"And no going out! You're grounded until further notice!" Her stepmother yelled one more time.
As if that's ever stopped me Abby thinks to herself.
~~~
As the clock gets close to 10, the group of friends prepare for the party which is being held at the lake by seniors, and when the clock hits 11, they're all at the park ready to roll. "Thank god you all made it! I was getting worried, being the first one here that is!" Bella laughs. As everyone starts walking to the lake, Colen looks at Abby.
"Your eyes sparkle in the moonlight. It's awfully gripping. " Colen whispers to her.
"Ok Romeo. Do you want something?" Abby rolls her eyes with a smile.
"The smile is all I could ask for." He remarks.
"Get a room!" Bella and Cason say in harmony. The friends laugh and continue to talk as they get closer to the party.
~~~
They can see the water and a blazing campfire with teens dancing all around. The moonlight and fire reflect on the water's surface and creates an enchanting semblance that puts the friends in aww. They make their way to the other teens and meet up with others they know, except for Abby and Colen.
"This seems so fun!" Abby shouts over the music as she dances the night away.
"Haha, tell me about it! I'm so glad we can experience this together." Colen responds while he, too, dances under the stars.
"You're always so cheesy." She giggles. "I'll be right back, I'm going to get some punch at the table."
Abby walks away from Colen when all of a sudden she hears the screams of all of the other kids by the fire. She turns around only to see a body in flames, rolling on the ground, only to stop moving within seconds. Dead. Looking at the flames slowly clear up, she sees that the victim of the horrifying event was Colen.
She tears up and a drop of water hits her face, followed by another. It was raining, just like Colen was talking about earlier. Colen, who was laughing and dancing only seconds ago. Sure, tomorrow is never promised, but it was too soon.
"How could you?!" A voice yells.
Who could be yelling at a time like this, at a time where people are looking at a horrifyingly tragic event?
