Yuzuru has been training in Canada for two months now, but nobody exactly knew where he was or what he was doing. Some people said they saw him completing his master's degree abroad. And others said he's teaching figure skating in a figure skating camp —last summer. But one thing people are sure of, Yuzuru is still a hot topic in the figure skating world, even though the Beijing Olympics ended eight months ago

When the Japan Skating Union announced Yuzuru's absence in Grand Prix,

"The JSU announced that Yuzuru Hanyu will be skipping Grand Prix 2022-23."

the media has many different speculations.

"Yuzuru Hanyu, after his failed 4A attempt in Beijing, is he now in hiding?"

"Is Yuzuru Hanyu retiring from figure skating?"

"Where is Yuzuru Hanyu?"

Yuzuru becomes tired of all the articles coming out about him, that he decided to leave Japan while everyone is sleeping —literally. And by the time he arrives in Canada, it's dinner time already.

A week before Yuzuru make an official comeback in the club, everyone was asked to sign an NDA form, from the security guards to the higher-ups. It's to avoid everyone in the club from telling and/or sharing his photos with the outsiders.

Although he has trained alongside Jason, Jun, and other figure skaters, they are clueless about Yuzuru's new program.

By December, he announces his participation in National Championship, his first competition after Beijing. Fans are excited to see Yuzuru skate again.
The National Championship arrives, and after the short program, Yuzuru is in the third position behind Shoma Uno and Yuma Kagiyama, his biggest competition for the spot in World Championship. Shoma Uno is the reigning WC gold medalist, while Yuma Kagiyama gets a silver medal with only a .5 gap. But despite Yuzuru's placement, he is still the favorite for the title.

Brian and Ghislain are accompanying Yuzuru for the first time since the Covid-19 starts.

"Just enjoy this moment!" Ghislain reminded him as he squeezed his shoulder.

"Our goal is to qualify for Worlds! No 4A, okay!?!" Brian reminds him before Yuzuru gets carried away.

Yuzuru nods.

After the warm-up, Yuzuru will skate first.

"Are you ready?" Brian asked.

Yuzuru nods.

He did his rituals. And he shakes Brian's hand before he skates towards the center of the ice rink. As he skates, everyone is quiet; every eye is on him. A piece of classical music starts to play. His hand moves gracefully.

4Ltz is his first jump, he did it with ease.

Yuzuru will be doing a combination jump that is rarely ever done before, 3A+3Lo.

The audience is holding their breath as Yuzuru jumps 3A, a jump with a forward entrance. Soon after 3A, he jumps 3Lo, creating a 3A+3Lo combination jump.

Yuzuru gains a positive GOE (Grade of Execution) for the combination jump. He did 4T, 4S, and Lutz-Loop jump sequences in the second half of his program. And his final jump is a 3A. Aside from his perfectly executed jumps, he also achieves all level4 for his spins. He did his long program cleanly. And because of that, he gains his 7th national title. It also means he will be at the 2023 World Championship in Saitama, Japan.

Yuzuru is the happiest person that night.
