"Nothing happened. I'm simply exhausted. Why are you still in this place?" Nabi responded to Do-Hyeok, who didn't appear to believe her lie. She didn't care if he did since she was exhausted and enraged with herself.
It was her idea, and she was still the one who fell in love with Jae-eon. She shouldn't blame Jae-eon for having a girlfriend yet she did.
"I wanted to make sure you got back home safely." Nabi stared at him and smiled. Through it all, Do-Hyeok continued to be a reliable friend to her. She decided to focus on that fact. It was easier to accept that than to face the truth of her other life.
They went silently together towards her apartment, which was quite a distance away yet felt close because she was in the company of others.
"Thank you." Nabi muttered.
"For?"
She looked at him, "Staying back to make sure I got home safely."
"It's nothing." And they returned to their comfortable silence.
When she was outside her apartment building, her mother called.
"Next week is your birthday. You should return to your home." The conversation came to an end.
They woman was never able to say more or go around in circles. It was a blessing and a curse at the same time.
Nabi walked into her flat after saying her goodbyes to Do-Hyeok. She had hardly been there for ten minutes when the emptiness threatened to swallow her whole. So she gathered her belongings, washed her face, and went to see Bitna.
It was one thing for her friend to be dating, but the fact that it was Gyu Hyun and that she liked him made it virtually impossible to believe. Nabi kept staring at her in between stories, looking for clues of a joke, but there were none. Bitna was in love while she was here, revealing her guts about how she developed affections for the university's playboy after orchestrating a non-committal sexual connection with him.
She was grateful Bitna didn't give her the "I told you so" look because she knew it sounded stupid and miserable..
"Maybe you should consider traveling home for your birthday. It would give you time away from everything and to decide if you want to continue or end things with Jae-eon."
"But it's my mother. You know how she is. I'd probably hear so much crap about my life that I'd leave there worse than I went."
"Still. She's your family."

Nabi stayed with Bitna till the next evening, ignoring all calls and texts from Jae-eon and Do- Hyeok. Men couldn't break into the bubble she had made with Bitna until the female chose to throw her out.
"You're free to leave now." Bitna had practically packed her belongings and was holding them out to her.
"What? Why are you being so cruel? It's dark, and there's a good probability it'll rain."
"It won't, and even if it does, you'll be taking my umbrella with you. My arm is starting to hurt, so please take the bag." Nabi scowled, but she took the bag nonetheless.
"Why are you being so cruel? Didn't you say you liked me?"
With a shake of her head, Bitna expressed her dissatisfaction with the situation. "I want you to leave because I care about you. You'd continue to postpone your troubles if I let you stay here longer." She sat down on the bed alongside Nabi and spoke once again. "How long do you intend to do this?"
"Forever. I don't want to talk to anyone for the rest of my life."
"Don't be a wuss; Finals are only three months away. Have you talked to your supervisor about your project issues?"
