The train platform 9 ¾ was always packed but today was something else. I was bumping into everyone and even almost knocked over a baggage trolly as I tried to find a train door. Once I had found a clear entrance I walked onto the train looking like I had just been through a world wind, or at least been spit out of one. I slowly walked down the hallway looking for an empty compartment, but I was late so the only one partially empty compartment was the one in the back of the train. I slid the door open to see a younger girl. I remember seeing her being sorted into Ravenclaw during my second year but we never talked. I sat down, gave her a quick smile and opened my bag to pull out Newt Scamander's latest novel. I loved the way he described the creatures and all of his adventures. His wife Tina worked in the Ministry. My dad had mentioned her name a couple times here and there.I looked out my window and all I could see were luscious green hills. They could go on for days. The way they rolled over each other, like waves on the top of the ocean. The big ones that you would read about in fairy tales. I would sometimes look out and imagine a ship soaring over them. Like chapter seven in Newt's last book. He was out on the Pacific with his son Peter. The way he described everything, it was almost like I was there with him. Before I knew it the train was lurching to a stop. I had been dozing off and almost fell out of my seat. The Ravenclaw girl let out a small chuckle that made my cheeks turn red. I grabbed my book and stuffed it into my bag. I threw on my robe and slid open the door. I was trying to look over everyone's heads trying to spot Neville or Hermione but one stood out to me. "had george gotten taller" I thought to myself. I wasn't surprised. By the end of his 3rd year he was already around 6,0ft. He looked over my way and for a split second we made eye contact until I broke it, looking down at the floor. We had flirted a little back and forth my 3rd year but we never did anything beyond that. "why did I look at the floor? now he's gonna think somethings up" I look back up at him only to see him staring at me chuckling. "fuck, too late now. wonderful job sara'' I don't know why I was so embarrassed, after all it's just George.
I walked into the entrance hall stunned by how large it was. It always shocked me. Each year my reaction was the same. The marble columns were at least 20 feet tall and the detail in the ceiling was incredible. The floor was a marble that you could only imagine would be in palaces. The different colors of gold swirled in between the whites and grays. There are stained glass windows on each side of the hall with moving landscapes. The one on my right was my favorite. It has this lady standing on the sea with the waves moving around her. At her feet there are fish that swim back and forth, as if they were greeting her. The sun is setting behind her which reflects onto the ocean in front. I've always wondered what it would be like to be inside a painting. Not just any old painting. An enchanted painting. The people in them seem as if they have their own lives to live. They always seem at peace. As I stare at the lady on the ocean the torches light up the hall that leads all the way down to the main hall where I know I would find Ron. I follow the crowd into the hall and find a seat next to Hermione at the Gryfindor table. "Where the hell were you earlier?" she said as I sat down. "I was late to the platform so I had to sit in the back." I replied. I looked up to see Ron cramming his face with chicken. "Hello to you too Ron." I laugh as he puts more chicken onto his plate.
"We sent Ron to go find you on the train but it seems like he found the trolly instead." Neville joked as he looked over at me.
"Yup that sounds like Ronald." I reply snickering. Ron shoots me an annoyed look as he eats more of his chicken. I look down at the rest of the table and a couple feet down I spot the same red head I made awkward eye contact with on the train. George was laughing with his brother and Oliver Wood. He looked happy. His smile is really nice, oh did I mention before how he does a slight smirk when he smiles. With the upper right corner of his mouth. I could feel myself staring but I didn't want to look away.
"Whatcha looking at?" Ron asks as he looks down the table. "shit" "Nothing" I quickly replied. "that was way too quick of a reply"
"Ohhhhh I see what you're looking at," Ron says. My smile dropped. "Your checking out Wood." he states. "oh thank jesus christ" "No I wasn't" I replied.
"Yeah you were I saw you." he shot back.
Well if me staring didn't get George's attention that sure did. He looked over at me and gave me the weirdest look. Thank god that's when Dumbledor started his speech.
