Being a kitten with the mind of a few millennia old immortal sucks. Bakugou could attest to this first hand. For almost two weeks he had been unable to open his eyes, and had to depend on some mother to protect and feed him, which, while nice, had been extremely nerve-wracking.
When he finally opened his eyes, he was tiny. A tiny, insignificant kitten, who hardly knew how to use his own paws. His siblings, two blond persian cats, were stupid. No offense to Pudding and Cream, they were great, just stupid.
His mother was incredibly protective, and whenever he tried to escape, she would grab him by the scruff of his neck and take him back to their corner in the house of their humans. Speaking of the humans, they were even more of a mess than his new cat family.
A loud child of about the age of two refused to leave him and his siblings alone, and an older kid seemed intent on getting one of them lost, or better yet in his eyes, dead. The parents hardly talked; the mother was too busy taking care of their kids, and the father was either gone or yelling.
Bakugou hoped he didn't have to choose one of these humans to devote himself to. They were all annoying as hell, and not good people.
One day, the mother human grabbed all four of them and carried them to a place labeled 'animal shelter', where she brought them inside. She wrote on a lot of papers, and then a strange woman he didn't recognize carried him and his family into a room full of awful smells and other cats, ones he didn't recognize.
He and his family were all split up into different small cages, his siblings crying for each other and their mother, but he was quiet. He paced the cage, his little 3-month old body never touching the walls. An older cat stared at him, frowning.
"Those humans gave up a little kitten like you? What did ya do, fluff ball?" The older cat scoffed.
"Don't talk to me, old fart. I'm busy." He paced more, before calling out for his siblings. "Pudding? Cream? Are you here?" They mewed back helplessly, the noise getting drowned out in the cries of the other cats. He sat down, glaring at the glass. How dare those humans get rid of his family! He understood himself, he wasn't exactly the nicest cat ever, but his siblings and mother were amazing! Stupid ass humans.
Over the next week and a half, both his siblings got taken away by nice looking people with much nicer children, but he and his mother still remained. Bakugou had noticed that the smaller cats were more likely to get adopted, as well as the nicer cats. Once an older couple arrived and had spent some time with his mother, but they had ended up with the old fart who had made fun of him for the last week and a half.
He had the feeling he wasn't going to make it out of here alive, and knew he would get another chance. His circumstances made it impossible to blame him for his shortcomings, so they would undoubtedly let him try again, and maybe as something more useful than a kitten.
One day while he was thinking over his plans for his next life, a young woman walked in with a tall man, who looked unimpressed to be here. "You sure this is what you want your gift to be? I could get you some jewelry or a gift card to a spa or something-"
"I want a cat, Hito." The woman replied. "And adopting is the best way to do that." Bakugou watched her for a while, since she was the only real entertainment for him. The cat toys they had supplied him with were boring, and his siblings were gone, so he really had nothing to play with to pass the time.
The woman walked around, the tall man following close behind, glaring at each cat as he walked. He seemed less than friendly. Bakugou wondered how a woman with such a sweet demeanor had gotten stuck with someone like that. The woman walked past a few cats, holding out her hand to a couple of them.
