Landon's POV
Today is a better day. I feel little better and I can speak a little clearer so that's good. My mom still worries about me which is completely understandable considering I had another seizure yesterday. She doesn't even want me in my room by myself so she moved me into her room for now.
"How are you feeling?" She asked me.
"Okay... I'm tired" I responded.
"I know baby... it's been a stressful couple of days for us."
"M-more like months"
"I can't argue with that one" she nodded her head in agreement.
"I'm hungry" I started to get up but my mom stopped me.
"I got it... what do you want to eat?" She asked.
"I got it... I-I'm okay" I reassured her.
I continued walking to the kitchen but was stopped by a knock at the door almost instantly after I passed it. I backed up and looked at the door. I don't think my mom heard it so I went to see who it was.
I was shocked to see who was on the other side of the door.
"Hey" Arely smiled.
"... H-Hey" I stuttered.
"How you doing?" She asked.
"I'm okay..."
"Uhh... this might be kind of awkward but—"
"Nah, c-come in" I told her.
She stepped inside we went to the living room.
"I just wanted to come by and check up on you... you know since we fell out a while ago."
I nodded my head.
"Uhh.... I don't know how else to say this and I don't want it to sound bad but it might. Mrs. Flores found a family for me."
"That's great" I smiled.
"... And today is my last day in Lubbock."
"Huh?" My smile faded.
"I'm moving... and I was coming by to say goodbye." I could see the tears forming in her eyes.
"W-where are you going?"
"Houston" she looked down.
I was speechless.
"I just want you to know that I thank you so much and I'm so grateful for what you've done for me even if I didn't like it. You've been by my side more than Laiya ever was and I can't thank you enough... believe it or not you saved my life. I mean you literally saved my life but you saved me from my father... and for that I'll forever love you"
I let my head fall as I started crying.
The only person I ever really got close to here is leaving... now I won't have anyone.
"Please don't cry..." she caught herself shedding a couple tears too.
"You can't leave a-another day?"
She shook her head.
"... I have to go but, I'll see you again."
"That's a lie..." I found myself getting angry.
She grabbed me and gave me a hug.
I hugged her back but didn't want to let go because I knew letting go meant I wouldn't see Arely again... No matter how much she promised we would see each other again.
