Landon's POV
Somehow I made it back to the house before my mom, which was perfect because I don't need anything stopping me from getting my car keys back.
I slipped in through the back fence and put in the code on the back door padlock letting myself into the house. I ran to my mom's room, digging through everything. I found them in her jewelry box... I swear my mom can't hide shit.
Since I hadn't been able to drive, my mom parked my car in the garage. It was pitch black when I opened the garage door so I turned the light on revealing that black glossy finish on my Mustang. Sitting inside of it felt better than ever. I can't lie, I miss driving but now I won't have to cause I got my keys back.
I remembered that Arely's address was put in my navigation system but, that was the nights she had me drop her off like down the street. I hoped it was still on there as I began typing what I remembered from her address.
It popped up quick and I pushed that option. I wasted no time backing out of the garage and onto the street. For some reason, this is the first time I've felt a little bit happy... almost like it gave me at least a little bit of power back.
Evelyn's POV
I've spent about 2 hours searching for Landon. I figured he'd be walking around not too far from where we were but I didn't see him anywhere. I started getting very anxious because I don't want him to do anything that would get him hurt or I trouble.
I began to think he might've just walked home so I made my way there hoping and praying he was there in bed or something. We only have about 10 minutes left of light outside and I could tell a storm was on the way too.
"God, please be here..." I was trying to remain hopeful.
I unlocked the door and went in. The house was dark and I hate walking in complete darkness but I went in.
"Landon" I called out.
Nothing.
I turned the nearest light on and searched for him anywhere. Not in his room, not in the bathroom or the living room.
Backyard was empty and the kitchen as well.
"Please be in the garage" I said almost in tears.
I opened the door and quickly flicked the light switch.
His car is gone.
"Fuck!"
I ran back to the car and grabbed my phone. As much as I didn't want to call Andre, I had to. There is no more denying that I need help with Landon while he is recovering from this painful and stressful ass injury.
"Hello?" Andre said into the phone.
"Andre... umm I don't know if you're close to Lubbock or not but," I suddenly found myself choking up while speaking. "I need your help finding Landon"
"What do you mean?" He sounded concerned.
"I just don't know anymore. I don't know what he's thinking or doing... I'm scared he's going to do something to get himself hurt or in trouble."
"Okay, okay... I just passed through Amarillo, give me 45 minutes and I'll be there"
"Okay." I took a deep breath and put my phone down on the table.
I'm not going to lie I was too shaken up to even continue driving right now and now it's raining like I thought it was going to.
45 minutes took forever to pass by and when Andre knocked on the door I was there in about .3 seconds.
"Come on, we'll take my car" he said as soon as the door opened.
I ran to grab my purse and a jacket then ran out to Andre's car.
"Where were y'all when he walked off?" He asked me looking out for anything moving.
"He walked in the direction of the house. He's in his car so he could be anywhere by now." I put my hand on my head.
"Is there anywhere you think he would go right now... to clear his mind?" He asked.
"I don't know... maybe the gym or a park or something."
He made his way around to the gym he practices at and it was almost empty, no sign of his car either. By this time parks are starting to close so we knew that was off limits.
"What about that girl?" He looked over at me.
"Who? Arely? Nah... she moved to Houston I believe" I told him.
Then it hit me.
...
...
"Please... calm down. I need to tell you something"
"What can you tell me right now that's going to help me? Or make me feel even just a little bit better?"
"Arely's dad... they found him guilty. He's out until sentencing next month."
...
...
"Oh my god... Arely's father"
"What about him?" He looked over as we stopped at a red light.
"He was proven guilty today. But, he's free until sentencing...."
"Shit"
I immediately pulled my phone out to call Miss Flores in hopes of her giving us Arely's father's address.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Miss Flores. I need a huge favor from you please. I know this may be a long shot but I need Arely's father's address... My son, he's not okay right now and I think he may be headed there to do something to her dad."
"I'm not supposed to do this."
"I know but please... my son's hands are registered. He could kill that man"
"... Uhh... fine. Please don't tell anyone about this. It's 492 Beechwood Drive"
"Thank you so much" I tell her then hang up the phone.
"492 Beechwood Drive"
Andre types it in his phone and then we take off.
Landon's POV
This is about the 3rd hour I've been waiting on some type of movement outside of that house to happen. I'm sitting in my car on the opposite side of the road a couple houses over from where Arely's dad lives. It was raining and the sound of the raindrops against the roof of my car was loud and was beginning to hurt my head.
"A-R-E-L-Y... A-R-E-L-Y," spelling Arely's name is helping me stay patient and calm until I see this stupid motherfucker come out his house. "A-R-E-L-Y... A-R-E-L-Y... A-R-E..."
I squint to get a better look of who was coming outside that house.
I saw a guy who was kind of big in the belly, he didn't really take care of himself... just downright disgusting.
I got out of the car and slowly approached him hoping that I would confirm it was him as I got closer. Suddenly we make eye contact...
