The madrigals gathered in the clearing.
"Well now what? They are gonna try to find the candle and put our Mirabel in danger." Abuela retorted in a manner that was unlike her. You glared at her, but stopped when Camilo squeezed your hand. You turned away from the old lady, and started to sketch an exact replicant of the miracle candle. You blew on it, and what came out was so realistic, anyone would have mistaken it as the real candle. You even felt magic flowing through it. You shook yourself. This was just for show. You held the candle close to you. Abuela reached out to take it, but you moved away from her hands.
"No. This is my job."
"But we have to make them belie-"
"Shh!" A soft but firm shush came from Dolores.
"They're here."

Shadows. They were here. Figures of darkness surrounded you. Pepa held back a desperate Camilo, as he shouted your name. You covered the candle with your body, and the shadows seemed to go through you, making holes in your soul. You screamed, and Camilo ripped free of Pepa's grip. Thunder struck as the woman screamed her sons name. Félix held her back.
"Y/n!!" Camilo screamed. He flung himself at the shadows, until he reached you.
"Camilo what are you doing-"
"Shh. I need to tell you something. Promise you'll listen." You shook your head, tears streaming down your cheeks.
"No, no! This isn't going to happen." You shouted. He grabbed the candle as well, putting his hands over yours.
"Y/n, you have to listen to me." You held on to his hands, steadying yourself. You nodded, as you tried to breathe.
"I'm listening." You whispered,
"If we die here-" You let go of his hands, and covered your eyes. You couldn't take it.
"Y/n. Breathe. If we die here, which we might, i want you to know that i love you." He took your hands again.
"Be strong. It will be okay."
"I believe you, but-"
"It will be okay. No buts."
"Okay.." The shadows continued, but suddenly you saw something. A light, in the darkness. The candle. It was glowing brighter. You saw another light. The sapphire on your ring was glowing as well. All of a sudden, there was a humongous flash of light. When you opened your eyes, the shadows were gone.
