He knew. Some part of him knew all day. While the address hadn’t registered at that moment, he remembered now. It was Olivia’s. Something was wrong here.
All of his kids were in the house. It was the last meal with all of them together before they left. Moved to Italy.
Elliot glanced up at Kathy from across the table. She was smiling, saying something to Maureen as she passed a plate down the line. Kathy caught him staring and eyed him carefully, asking a silent ‘what’. Elliot shook his head, looking back down at his food. He pushed it around on his plate before taking a bite.
He tried to engage in the conversations, remembering that it would be a long time before they could all be together like this again. The entire time, the question lingered: what had Kathy sent to Olivia?
