Beep! Beep! Beep! I slammed my hand down on my Totoro alarm clock and opened my eyes only to be blinded by the early morning sun rays. Damn, I forgot to close the curtains! I blinked rapidly as my eyes adjusted to the blinding sunlight. My room had a walk in closet, bathroom and massive library.
Last night I had slept in the library which was probably why I forgot to close the curtains. Then all of yesterdays events came flooding back.
OH.MY.GOD.TRIS.IS.DEAD. HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?! I do not want to go to school in this state of mind.
I got up anyways and put on my uniform, brushed my hair and teeth and went downstairs for my breakfast smoothie.
I was sitting on the public bus reading, and feeling sorry for Tris, when suddenly someone sat down beside me. I looked up to see an attractive looking idiot smiling brightly at me. "Hello Beatrice! remember me?" He asked.
"No, should I?"
He looked unbelievably hurt when I said that, which was dumb because its not my fault he wasn't a very memorable person.
"Its me, Myles.. from yesterday, you walked me home". The smile had dropped off his face and he spoke shyly.
"I walked you home? Are you sure? That doesn't sound like something I would do".
He gave me this mopey puppy dog look and tried one more time. "You helped me get home because I was lost, and you tripped and I caught you.. and.." He trailed off once he realized I still didn't remember.
Oh wait.
"Are you that kid Tyler or whatever?"
That stupidly crooked grin returned. "Yeah! But my name is Myles not Tyler".
"Okay great!" I spoke sarcastically and returned to my book.
"Hey didn't you notice I was wearing your schools uniform?" He asked
"Of course I noticed, I'm not an idiot" I said starting to get annoyed.
"Well didn't you notice that I haven't ever been to your school?"
"No. I don't pay attention to who's at my school and who's not. But since you made it painfully obvious I'm going to guess you just enrolled". I straightened my glasses as I spoke.
His shy demeanor returned as he realized that I was being pretty hostile towards him. Took him long enough, geez!
"I'm just going to sit over here now.." he spoke softly and sounded hurt. God he was such an idiot. Just because I had helped him yesterday, didn't mean we were instant besties.
The bus jolted to a stop and we walked out, Myles briskly walking past me.
Wait, now he is mad? What the hell? He sure is moody. He is like a completely different person! Now he is being all cold and sexy. What happened to the shy idiot on the bus?
The bell rang and I rushed into the school. Where as the other kids shoved each other in a mad rush to get to their lockers, I was given a wide berth. The perks of being an admired lone wolf.
I felt eyes following my every move, even though all I was doing was grabbing my school books and checking my schedule. First class was English Literature. Yes! my favourite class!
Unfortunately I shared it with Moody Myles and Annoying Aaron.
Oh well. They weren't going to ruin my favourite class. I was right. Aaron tried to get my attention but I ignored him. Myles ignored me and I ignored him.
I cant say the same for the other girls though. They dropped their pencils more then often and tried to make conversation with him repeatedly. By lunch there was a swarm of girls following Myles around. I felt a tiny bit sorry for him.
Today I sat on the bench per usual and read my book.
Suddenly someone grabbed my hand and pulled me inside of the school. They dragged me to the men's locker room and shut the door.
"What.The.Hell. I was reading! and I dropped my book!" I crossed my arms and pouted.
"Sorry, I just needed your help". I looked up quickly, it was Myles!
This is weird. I thought he was mad...?
"Well if it isn't Mr. Moody himself". I crossed my arms again and pouted.
I never noticed how tall he is! Why do I have to be so damn short?!
"Look I'm sorry okay?" "The girls in this school are insane and completely obsessed with me! they wont leave me alone and I don't know what to do!" His Shyboy personality began to show again.
"I don't know how to help you"
He ran his hand through his hair and sighed dramatically. " You do to know how to help me! You think I don't notice the way everyone around here worships the ground you walk on!?" "How did you get them to stop chasing you around?"
He got this desperate look in his eyes and his voice rose.
I looked at him through the corner of my eye and said "All I did was show them that I was not interested in them and wanted nothing to do with them. If they wanted to worship me then go right ahead! Just leave me the hell alone".
"Inspiring words My Goddess!" he clapped sarcastically.
"you didn't strike me as the sarcastic type Myles".
Myles grinned sheepishly and spoke, ignoring my remark. "You probably don't want to be in here, it stinks".
"Yeah you're right".
I kicked open the door and left without another word.
