Book Three

 Finally! Saturday morning!

I stretched my arms and yawned heavily, shaking my head trying to wake up.

I reached over to the bedside table, expecting to find a book.

I didn't find any books but I picked up my glasses and put them on.

As much as I didn't want to get up, I flopped out of the blanket and stumbled to the library to find a book anyways. I walked along the aisles, running my hands along the books as I went.  There was an entire shelf in here dedicated to books I haven't read yet.

The Maze Runner  sat there, just begging me to read it. I took a deep breath and reached for it. I was a little nervous because I wasn't totally ready for a new fandom after just finishing Tris's  journey. And I've been told that it is really sad.

I grabbed it anyways and  snuggled back into my bed and opened the cover.

That was how I spent Saturday morning , devouring page after page, developing crushes and fostering grudges against the characters. I was perfectly happy to join this world and share the pain, happiness, everything, with these imaginary people. Because to me they more than words, they were alive.  When they ran for their lives I did too. When they laughed and joked I did too.

That was how I spend all my free time, so it wasn't surprising for my dad too walk into my room and find me with a book in my hand. "Bumble Bee its time for breakfast".

I scowled at him and put a book mark in to mark my place.

"You know I don't like that name"

he ruffled my hair as I walked out the door, "Whatever you say, poo head"

My scowled deepened and I punched him playfully in the arm.

The two of us sat down to eat the yogurt and granola. My dad is a health nut so he covered the food in chia seeds and hemp hearts.

I made a face at the food but ate it anyways.

"Here you go my son," My dad said and passed me a green kale smoothie.

My dad had this weird thing where he would call me "son" and  "Francesca" (FRAN-CHESS-CA) .

"I have to go do some things at the jobsite okay?" My dad "asked", really he was just telling me.

"Okay, I'm probably going to go to the bakery for a bit, do you know where the car keys are?" I asked.

"Up your butt probably"

I rolled my eyes, my dad loved to make butt related jokes.

"So.." I asked.

"I dunno, probably somewhere in the front room. What bakery are you going to?" My dad asked as he put his shoes on.

"The only good one" I said vaguely

He lifted an eyebrow but didn't comment.

"Buh Bye" My dad said as he shut the door.

I gulped down the rest of my smoothie and ran up to my room. I Turned on my Lana Del Rey -Ultraviolence  album to full blast and got dressed.

I put on a floral romper with mismatched knee high socks. I brushed my hair and teeth and put some earrings in. I stuffed my wallet, phone, book, ect. in my bag and went down to the garage.

I brought my bike to the driveway changing my mind about driving. I put my  bag into the basket hanging on the handle bars and hopped on the bike.

I didn't live in a city, but it wasn't exactly a town either. We did  have a private school but nothing else fancy like that. It was useful to have a car but if you needed to you could walk everywhere.

I walked into the bakery and noticed that it was surprisingly crowded for ten thirty on a Saturday.

Ashley, the owner, waved at me before turning back to the customer she was attending to. When it was my turn I ordered a fruity tea and sat down outside enjoying the sun, even if it was still chilly.  I finished my tea and returned the mug to the counter. I was about to leave but changed my mind and got back into line.

I got a creampuff and a coffee to-go for my dad, I didn't drink caffine, and was just leaving when I bumped into none other then Aaron Fox.

My dads coffee spilt all over him.

He raised an eyebrow at me

"You're paying for that" I said coolly, returning the unimpressed look that he had shot me.

"And you might as well throw out that shirt, coffee stains are hard to get rid of"

"Glad to see your worried about the fact that scalding hot liquid was just dumped on me".  Aaron smiled grimly and stepped outside to take off his wet shirt.

I shrugged at Ashlie and walked out after him. He had put on his sweater to hide the fact that  he was shirtless.

"Can you please hurry up and give me two dollars?"

"Why the fuck am I the one buying your coffee? You're the one who ruined my shirt".  Aaron questioned eyebrows raised.

"Its not my fault you walked into me". I challenged him.

Aaron held up his hands in surrender and walked into the bakery. A couple minutes later he came out, biting a croissant and holding out a coffee for me. I grabbed the coffee and walked towards my bike.

"No thanks?! you jerk!" Aaron yelled after me.

I gave him a sideways look, "I have nothing to be thankful for" I said coldly  and hopped onto my bike without a further glance.  I dropped off dads coffee and rode to the sea cliffs. When i got there I parked my bike and hid my bag.

The sea cliffs were these enormous cliffs that dropped out directly into the ocean. There were little pathways all along them, and there was always a strong wind. I loved going there because sometimes the wind was so strong that when you jumped it would carry you a few feet and it would feel like you were flying.

It wasn't like that today, but the wind was still very strong and I let it wrap me in its embrace and allowed myself to forget about everything. I hugged my arms to my chest and leaned back into the wind, my hair engulfing me.

I stood like that for an eternity, until I was awoken from my dream like state by the sound of my phone vibrating. I walked to my bag and picked up my phone, it was my dad. I ignored the call and instead got onto my bike.  I looked back at the cliff's, almost overlooking Myles staring at the spot that I had been standing. How long had he been there for?  I blinked and then started to pedal down the hill.
