Chapter 3

*FLASHBACK*

No ones POV

It was Liz's first day in Kindergarten. She was so exited. Her mom kissed her forehead and said goodbye. She went inside and said hello to her teacher, Miss Stevens. She sat down in the front row. A girl sat next to her. Her name was Evelyn.

"Hi my name is Lizzy"

"Hi my name is Evie"

"Do you want to be friends?"

"Sure!"

And they became best friends. Later, after Miss Stevens read them a story, it was time for lunch. So they sat together at the little bench and opened up their pudding cups. They ate and laughed and talked.

Awhile later it was time to go home. They hugged and ran to their parents , ready to tell them what had happened on their first day.

*2 days later*

It was Lizzy's third day at kindergarten. She had got to know all the kids. She learned how to count to 10. But to day was different. Somebody new was in class. Somebody she hadn't seen before. But she didn't care because today the class was going to learn the alphabet.

It was lunch time!

Liz and Evie sat in their usual place, under the slide and yet again opened up their pudding cups.The strange kid came over to them. He had green eyes. When he got closer, Liz could see the dimples plastered on his face when he smiled.

"Can I sit here, the other kids don't like me. They think my hair is too curly"

Liz responded by saying

"Sure you can sit with us. But I don't think your hair is too curly I think it is just right"

"OK thanks, sorry"

"Hi whats your name. I'm Evie"

"I'm Harry"

"So that's why you have a lot of hair"

"Yeah I guess"

"I'm Liz"

"Do you want to be friends"

The girls replied by saying

"Yes!"

*end of flashback*

Liz's POV

Today was the first day of senior year. As i got ready, i thought of what Evelyn was thinking. We had been best friends forever, we did everything together. I went downstairs to get breakfast.

"Are you ready for your first day as a senior" my mom asked

"ready as i'll ever be"

i ate my cereal, grabbed my coffee, kissed my mom and waited for my brother. it was his first day in 9th grade, which meant we were going to the same school . yeeeaahh.

"Nate! hurry up we are going to be late" i was getting impatient.

" im coming"

he ran downstairs grabbed a waffle, kissed my mom gooodbye and ran out the door. i followed. my dad was at work, he would be back in time to have dinner with us. I as drove i noticed that Nate was dressed rather nicely.

"why are you so fancy" i asked

"beausse a girl from my old school is coming to this school so i want to look nice, i think she likes me"

"is it that Lucy girl"

"yea, and why do you care"

"because i want to know"

i pulled up to the school parking and parked. as i got out of the car i noticed Evie running towards me with her arms wide open. we hugged. i hadnt seen her in months. usually we spend summer breaks together, but her family was going to Utah to visit some family members.

"whats up girl"

"doing fine, you?"

"i'm fine" i answered.

i told my brother where to go to find out his classes and he left.

"so i hear there is a new kid, he's a senior and very cute."

"how do you know if he's cute if you never meet him"

"i just know"

we walked into first period and sat in the front row. our teacher was mr. Tanner. he was in his 50s. he greeted us as we sat down. as he started introducing himself, there was a ring on the phone. he answered, listened then hung up.

"Who is Elizabeth Johnson"

i raised my hand and he said" there seems to be an emergency you are wanted in the main office"

i looked at Evie and she just looked at me confused.

"um ok" i packed my things and headed out the door

as i reached the main office i noticed that Nate was there too. i asked him if he knew what was going on and he said that mom was coming to pick us up.

"kids if you wait here your mom will be here soon" the councler said.

we waited . mom came in a couple minutes later.

"mom whats wrong"

"your father-, hh-ee is in t-the h-o-spital" she was crying

"what, is he ok"

"i dont know, we are gonna go there now"

"ok then lets go" nate said

"mom, i'll drive" i offered. i could get my car later.

"he is at st. mandys"

"ok"

we got in the car and i started to drive.

Evie's POV

Awhile after Liz left, a boy walked into the class. i didnt really pay attention to him because i was wondering what happened to Liz.

"hello, im new here and this seems to be my first class" he had a low raspy voice.

"ok just take a seat, we were just introducing ourselves, why dont you go next"

he sat down in Liz's seat. i turned to face him. as he started to say his name, I said "Harry?"

He looked at me and i knew it was Harry.

"Evie"

"So you two know each other"

harry said" i guess we do"

oh my god, wait till liz finds out. how could he be the new kid.

As the class ends, i get up as fast as i can and run out of class, trying my best to ignore Harry.
