Since young, Tzuyu's body has been weak. Even before the illness has gotten her. But all of the sudden, just one day after she turned seven years-old, her body condition started to worsen at an alarming rate. It had gotten to the point where she couldn't even leave the bed without somebody wheeling her around. Some days were worse though, she couldn't even get out of her bed, much less waking up. Her muscles weren't even strong enough for her to lift herself up from her bed.
After further testing and checkups done by the doctors, they soon came to a conclusion.
"We've never seen anything like this before. The cause of the illness is unknown. This is a completely new species of organisms that are infiltrating the patient's body. If we follow the norms of life-threatening diseases, our predictions are that the patient will not be able to live past a decade or so. But, this is just a hypothesis, thus nothing has been set in stone. This is just to let you have at least an idea of your daughter's conditioning. Currently, there isn't any cure for the patient's illness however, please don't lose hope in your daughter. Even though your daughter's body is weak, her mental strength is strong. The fact that she's able to withstand this deadly illness and still stay ever so positive shows how much willpower and determination she has. So, until then, please do not take that away from her." The doctor explained.
Of course as a pair of understanding parents, they had no intentions of taking away their child's life nor blame the doctors for being incapable. But seeing how their child viewed their own illness in a positive light brought immense pain to their hearts.
'How can one stay so strong yet weak at the same time?'
'How can she tolerate this amount of pain and still stay so positive?'
These thoughts ran across their minds constantly but, what could they do? It wasn't like they could simply take away their child's pain. Of course, they always had thoughts of having the illness instead of their child or how they could potentially "transfer" their child's illness to them. But, it was all nothing but a sweet dream.
A decade has passed since the initial diagnosis, and a decade has passed since their child first suffered from this lethal illness. The couple has been looking for every credible solution for Tzuyu but none surfaced in those ten years. Fortunately, it seems like over time, Tzuyu's body managed to heal itself at a tremendous rate and now, she's able to stand up and get out of her bed. At least for a short period of time.
"Mom? Dad? Are you still thinking about that day? What's this? A celebration for its tenth year anniversary of living in my body? Relax guys, I'm fine! So ease up on those furrowed brows, the muscles there have suffered for way too long and you'll turn old real quick!" A 17 year-old Tzuyu joked with her parents.
"You! How dare you-"
"Sorry mom!" Tzuyu cut off her mother, raising her hands up, surrendering.
"Hahaha, we're fine my darling. Wait...I need to go somewhere real quick." Her father exclaimed before rushing off.
"Dad! Where you- cough -cough." Even before Tzuyu could finish her sentence, she started coughing profusely.
The panic-stricken mother promptly stood up from her seat before offering a cup of warm water to help relieve the dryness in her daughter's throat.
"Thanks mom! Anyways...I was thinking, how about we go on a walk? To the sky garden we go!" Tzuyu exclaimed as she speedily lifted herself off of the bed, before jumping once.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! No jumping, remember? You have a weak body." Her mother chided her.
"Whatever do you mean? I'm perfectly a-okay! See?" Tzuyu expressed before skipping around her private ward.
