Nikki and Hope woke up and they both had a letter that had been slipped underneath their doors. Hope and Nikki both picked them up. Hope opened her door and walked to Nikki's room. Nikki and Hope looked at each other then sat on Nikki's bed with the unopened letters in their hands. They decided to open them at the same time. The letters had their names on. They both opened the letters and before reading the letter they both looked at who it was from. It was from their dad. Nikki read hers first. Nikki's said
"My dearest Nikki,
I gave this letter to Rebekah to give to you; As a child full of wonder; a teenager full of opinions; or a woman with the world at her feet. I write to tell you that I love you and to explain that in our family's darkest hour, I was called upon to save my siblings. And so I did. Please do not mourn me, whatever pain I endure I do so in service of those I love. My sole regret is that I will be away from you. Remember your mother and visit her whenever you can, visit me too. I can't wait until we are all reunited as a family. With Hope and Hayley too. Until then, my sacrifice will allow you to grow. Become the beautiful daughter I can now only imagine. Please know you are the legacy this family has always desired, the promise we fought to protect. You are and always will be my daughter and you are named after me. I love you and I know you will miss me but try not to. I don't want you to be upset. Love Dad."
Nikki looked at Hope with tears in her eyes. Hope opened her letter and read hers. Hopes said
"My dearest Hope,

Hope looked at Nikki. They both had tears in their eyes. They looked at their letters once more before hugging. They stood up and walked to Rebekah who had two more letters in her hands. Rebekah gave each of them a letter. Hope and Nikki read them at the same time they said nearly the same thing. Hopes said:
"Hey, Hope . So, I know this is a crappy way to do this, but I'm a crappy person, so I guess it fits. By the time you read this, I'll be dead like your father. So I guess this is goodbye. I'm not gonna get lame or mushy, but you deserve the truth. I'm telling Rebekah that the world is a better place without an Elijah. That it was for the best for everyone that I was gone. I'm sure she'll see through that. Because, to be completely honest, I don't give a damn about the world. The truth is, I'm not in a good spot. Hell, I'm miserable. And I have been ever since your mom left me. Before her, I didn't know what it was like to be happy. To be fulfilled. To be complete. But now, I do. And now that I know that feeling, to live without it? There's just no point. So, that's it,Uncle Elijah"
Elijah always spoke to Nikki and Hope as if they were his best friends not like they were his nieces and they liked it. Nikki's letter said:

Elijah added some for Nikki because it was what Hayley had said to Hope so he thought he should have told Nikki.
