CHAPTER THREE:
THE MASQUERADE BALL
THE LA BOUFF'S masquerade ball was full of civilians in New Orleans, everyone either wearing suits, dresses or just costumes. The night sky was out, the moon shining down on the citizens of New Orleans. Music from the band could be heard all around the masquerade, adding to the happy chatters of the guests inside.A beautiful and creative water fountain could be seen in the ball, some people sitting on the edge or standing by it. Even some little kids had thrown coins in there like some people did whenever they went by a water fountain. Some of the guests all stood on the dancefloor, laughs escaping them as they danced with one another.
At the food table, Tian stood on one side as he wore a nice brown suit that happened to be his father's. The entire night, he continued to serve the people who would walk by, giving them the beignets. Beside the table, Y/n nervously played with the fingers of the gloves she wore that matched her nice f/c dress.
Her hair was half-up and half-down, a small crown on her head. Beside them on the stairs, Charlotte was walking back and forth, looking out at the ball in search of a certain prince as she also avoided the boy named Travis in front of her who had been asking for a dance. Unlike Y/n, Charlotte's dress was very big and poufy and was a nice pink color.
"But, Miss Charlotte, you said "later" two hours ago." Travis reminds.
Charlotte sighs, rolling her eyes a bit. "Travis, when a woman says "later", she really means "not ever". Now run along. There are plenty of young fillies dying for you to waltz them into a stupor."
With a frown, Travis walks off as the blonde makes her way to her sister. Y/n had watched the interaction and shook her head a bit, knowing her sister would only dance with Prince Naveen and no one else.
Just then, Charlotte was rushing to the table, frantically grabbing the napkins that were neatly folded and on top of each other before she was shoving them into her dress where her armpits were and her chest area.
"Give me those napkins, quick!" Charlotte exclaims.
"What on earth for?" Tian asks.
"I swear, I'm sweating like a sinner in church. Y/n/n, Tian, it's getting to be so late!" Charlotte whines.
"There's still a few stragglers." Y/n reasons.
"It's just not fair! My prince is never coming!" Charlotte cries.
"Now, Lottie--" Tian begins.
"I never get anything I wish for!" Charlotte exclaims, interrupting him.
Next thing the two knew, the blonde was rushing up the stairs as Y/n quickly caught her sister's crown that fell off her head. Tian and Y/n were quick to catch up with the blonde as she cried into her hands. Just as they stop at the top of the stairs, the blonde lets out a gasp, revealing her makeup had slowly started falling from her eyes.
