Wilbur let out a tired sigh, opening his eyes to see that he was sharing the couch with Savannah who was still asleep. A groan leaving his throat before pushing himself off the bed and rubbing his eyes.
Quickly perking up as he heard the phone ring next to him. Picking it up, he saw the unknown caller ID knowing exactly who it was. "Hey Russell."
"Kid, gear up. I need you here yesterday." The familiar tone echoed before Wilbur's eyes fully opened quickly moving to the suitcase he was given last night to dig up his new suit. "What's going on?"
"Explosion hit the DSB's research station. Thankfully, everyone is okay but one. Unlucky bastard got tossed from the hit into the river. We have his trajectory and an idea of where he is. We just need you to get him." Russell spoke as Wilbur finally got the suit on except for his cowl, walking to the window to open it up. "How far exactly are we talking here?"
"For you, five minutes. Think you can handle this?" Russell asked before Wilbur chuckled and pulled the cowl over his face. "I've been put through worse." Wilbur spoke before a small rumble shook the apartment as he shot himself out the window and into the sky with his wings out.
Placing his hands in front of him as he soared through the clouds, his eyes turned to the passing research station. "Alright Wilbur, he should be just to the left of where you're going." Russell spoke in his ear through the small mic piece in his cowl. That gave Wilbur all the more reason to test how fast he truly got. Soaring off faster and letting the momentum carry him through the vacant area with his wings sparking with energy.
Fluttering through the passing smoke, he used his inferred lens to seek out any civilians. It surprised him. Wilbur didn't expect his new suit to be so advanced.
It still didn't change how upset he was at Russell.
Finally seeing the soldier holding on for dear life, he pushed himself faster, soon slowing down as he could hear the man's sobs and cries for help. Quickly grabbing the dangling man by the back of his shirt, he couldn't hear the man's sobs stop for a moment as he turns to Wilbur.
The skimmer offered a small wave before quickly flying the two back towards safety. It didn't take long for either of them, slowing his speed once he saw the research base once more before he stops, placing the solider along the station's floor.
He gave the others a small wave before soaring back towards the city. Once he reached the city, he had a soft, proud smile stretch on his face. He passed through the clouds as his body twisted and flipped through the air. A small chuckle left him before he caught himself in the air. He looked down, surprised that he was just over Town Square.
"Wilbur." Russell's words echoed once again in his ear before he let out a tired sigh. "More work alrea-" he began before Russell took the moment to interrupt him as Wilbur glided to Town Square.
"When's the last time you heard from Savannah?"
"Sav? Well, I spent the night at her house last night. Why are yo-"
"Just a thought. But I'm gonna need your help today."
Red Dragonfly raised an eyebrow to Russell's words as he stuck onto a lightpost, the screens blasting around him. Before the skimmer could ask what was going on, his eyes turned to the big screen. The breakout of the century was beginning in front of his eyes.
"This is Danny Morris, reporting live from outside Hellcage Prison, where authorities are investigating a mass breakout. Fair warning, what we'll be showing is not for the faint of heart." Security footage shows who was probably Hurricane blowing a hole through the brick walls with his thunder, showing thousands of inmates making their getaway. "Just half an hour ago, the Hellcage containment cells were simultaneously opened via unknown means. On site security struggled to to contain the fleeting masses, resulting in a body count we cannot be sure of at this time. When backup finally arrived, it was too late as the site had been cleared. Details are still being investigated at the moment, but as authorities searched the facility for clues, they found a sinister scene in the security room. Human remains were scattered everywhere, alongside a message written in blood on the wall. The message reads: HUMANITY'S MISTAKES WILL COME FULL CIRCLE. Due to the nature of the message and the violence of the scene, authorities suspect that whoever did this was not human in origin. Authorities caution that the Hellcage escapees are likely on route to Scarlet City. All are extremely dangerous and civilians have been warned to evacuate the city."
