Abigail Whitlock was a sweet child the golden child that everybody loved and adored. Her parents would push her and push her to get everything perfect and she thought that it was how life was supposed to be. That is until her perfect little sister came along.
The young Whitlock didn't know what to do when mommy and daddy wouldn't kiss the little scrapes on her knees anymore or ask her how her day at school went and they even started to stop picking her up from school giving her no other option than taking the bus with all the high schoolers at just 6 years old.
Slowly growing up her sister got even more attention and love whilst she got less it was almost like the world was trying to separate her from her family.
One of the only times that Abigail sees her family is when it's time for dinner but even then, she is watching from afar. Her sister now sits in the pretty pink chair that was always reserved for her whilst her parents sit in the only other two seats available. The only problem is Abigail isn't allowed to sit in the living room or her room with her food.
The front porch is now her safe place. She will eat there or even just sit there and watch the day go by.
Abigail's parents on the other hand are a completely different subject. They don't even realise that they lost their first child when the next one came. The only thing they thought about was now they had another child to look after, and it was too much to handle obviously the oldest should take the responsibility, right? Even if she is only at the age of five.
Abigail often found herself upset due to the fact she was so angry at her younger sister, Martha Whitlock, for something that was out of control for her as a baby, but as the time went by, she soon found herself not being upset at herself but at her sister. Martha was older now at the age of four and she knew exactly how to get Abigail into trouble.
Martha loved doing anything that was a disadvantage for her older sister simply due to the fact that she knew her parents would believe anything she said.
Martha would make trouble and blame It on her sister, it started off as simple things such as knocking over vases and drawing on the walls, but it got worse when it started involving the towns people. Somehow the four-year-old figured out that making trouble with the towns people made bigger problems for the nine-year-old with their parents.
The rare times that their parents couldn't take Martha out into the town they made Abigail take her as she was only four years old still not realising that she was still too young for such responsibilities. The younger Whitlock would take small things out of stranger's pockets and sneaking them into Abigail's she would never figure out how, but someone would always end up knocking on her front door asking is they have seen anything that has been missing from there possession and of course they would always go straight to Abigail and find the missing object in one of her pockets.
Due to Martha often getting her into trouble everyone stayed clear of her, they used her as the bad example to show their children how to be well behaved. People would give her long, unhappy looks in the street but stand as far away as possible, teachers would make sure Abigail had the least amount of communication in class, not wanting her to 'corrupt' any of the student.
However, there was one person who didn't stay clear of her or give her long unhappy looks in the street and stand as far away from her as possible.
That one person out of the entire of Smallville was Martha Kent. At first Abigail didn't want to believe that the kind old woman wanted to care wanted to care for her thinking she would be the same as her sister due to the name similarities but alas she was wrong Martha became that mother figure she always needed.
The oldest Kent would always tell her stories of her late husband and son, all the fun and laughs they used to have, how much she mises them both greatly.
Truthfully Abigail gained a small amount of resentment towards Clark Kent, Martha's son, when she tells her of all the times family diners or just coming over for the weekend has been cancelled but when Martha explains that she understands, and Clark has a very important job she begins to understand. Of course, she doesn't understand fully but she does know that is Martha is ok with it then she should to.
For the next five years Abigail would often not be seen at her own house (not that her parents would notice although her trouble making sister certainly did, and she loved it) but Martha's instead getting to know each other and creating what's thought to be an unbreakable bond.
However, this all changed when one morning she walked into the Kent house after unlocking the door with the key Martha gave her saying 'your family now so you're going to act like it, this is your house as much as it is mine so stop knocking on the door every single time you are at this house you fool.' It was quite unusual that the door would still be unlocked at this time due to the fact Martha always got up nice and early for some reason to unlock it for her, but she didn't think anything of it.
That was until she stood at the bottom of the stairs witnessing Martha's laboured breathing as she struggles to reach the phone at the top of the staircase.
