The sequel to my first Troy Otto fanfiction The Killer in Me.
The story continues to follow Emmy Collins still surviving the apocalypse with her group and trying to maintain a somewhat normal existence in such a ravaged world.
A silence was in the air for a while as she stood by the small window of the place. This was one of the last standing buildings they had. What was left of the camp had been forced to keep closer quarters now Emmy didn't mind this one though out her window she could see where her father had been buried... Where so many of their group had been buried an anger swirled in her gut over the thought of all this mess. Death was merely a side effect of this world more than before that was for sure but it didn't mean a grudge couldn't be held over it.
"Are you sure it was the same guys?" Emmy needed to confirm. She had left quickly from Brady's when she saw Daisy and Jay at the door they needed to talk further about everything.
"They have to be close right? Still...They already stormed us once" Daisy rambled while Emmy stepped away from the window towards her desk the big map lay across the table marking area after area.
"Where were you exactly?" Emmy directed the question towards Jay her dark brown eyes focusing on the landscape in front of her... Her finger traced the details of the surrounding area.
"Here" Jay pointed wincing as he reached out pulling his wounded side. Emmy nodded as she grabbed her marker teeth holding the lid between her teeth as she began circling it "You planning something?" Jay questioned both he and Daisy now watching Emmy closely.
"These people clearly have a problem..." Daisy began
"Or just territorial" Jay cut her off with a shrug.
"Either way it's a problem we have to solve" Emmy added. She knew though she knew very well a reason behind this whether it was solely the reason she couldn't be completely sure of course but certainly consequences had actions but all that dad matter all that mattered was the shit they were in now. They were surrounded at each turn, every outing hunted like damn Gazelles.
"You have a plan up your sleeve don't you?" Daisy asked the taller thin woman raised an eyebrow curious.
"Getting there" Emmy straightened turning to face the pair "When I'm ready I need to be able to rely on you" She was serious her large eyes staring at the pair in urgency for them to agree and without hesitation or further explanation they nodded. Hadn't she proven herself after all, after all the shit had been through hadn't she proven herself to be here and take care of these people in her father's steed "Don't let this out though we don't want everyone here worrying..."
"Understood..." Daisy spoke. The pair went to leave before Emmy called out.
"You're sure it was the same group that attacked us?" Emmy needed to confirm. She knew though deep down she knew but for some reason, she needed to hear the words again.
"I'm sure. Troy was the one who recognised some of them" She didn't reply but let them leave. Of course, he was she expected nothing less. Emmy eyed over her map narrowing down where these people's main base wasn't an easy task but so fair with the small scouting tasks it had narrowed this down and also concluded a theory she was starting to come to. Her finger traced where their home was they weren't directly around them Atleast not all the time but they had the roads surrounded that was for sure. Were they trying to starve them out? Take them out slowly? Emmy wasn't sure but her curiosity was peeking over it. Emmy stared her eyes fixed on the spots of ambush, the spots she'd noticed someone in the night beyond the fence she wasn't crazy she knew they were there... It was circling them, keeping them within the fence but if they were there they couldn't be far she felt she was getting closer the them, closer to finding where they were located the area was mostly trees the city was hours away and easy to cross off, three of the surrounding towns were something to mark off now too the group was obviously big and stable for them to know the place to well and scout it out so well... Emmy drummed the pen against the long sheet of paper the tracks behind them was looking like her best bet after all it led upwards and if they were far enough up they could definitely see all the way down onto their group... It wasn't concrete but it was definitely her best bet.
"Concentrating there, Em" the voice shook her from thought as she glanced up to see Troy. He stood in the archway of the small room his thin figure leaning against the frame with his blue eyes trained on her. Taking everything in as they always did the most observant one.
"Just a little.." she shrugged off his comment still attempting to focus. Troy paid no mind to her dismissiveness and merely made his way closer before practically leaning over her shoulder and watch what she was doing.
"You missed one..." he almost whispered before tapping a singular finger against the small clearing on the map. A small town to be exact. He was right though... It was where they first encountered them.
A simple 'mm' from her lips as she acknowledged what he had pointed out. She watched him further his finger slowly tracing along the map there were only a few roads through it and Troy of course came to the same conclusion as Emmy as his finger made its way along a road up the hill.
"What's a better advantage point then when you can oversea your enemy" he whispered. She turned her head to face him but he had the face of indifference as he often did as he seemed so casual to turn and face her. Those eyes once again taking in her every movement.
