We've been driving for about ten minutes now. It was all silent except for the radio. Until Trinna spoke up.
"Wow Maree! I'm surprised you haven't asked for a cigarette yet. Usually you were right on it!" Trinna laughed as she handed me a cigarette and lighter. I slowly and quietly took it, popped it in my mouth and fired up. I don't always smoke. I used to a lot. But nowadays I just smoke whenever I'm stressed or mad.
I cracked the car window a little so the smoke won't suffocate everybody. I took another drag and looked out the window. That's when the car swerved and jolted to a stop. I turned and looked at a very sad, yet angered Laney. I gave her a confused look.
"Maree, tell me the truth. Have you been cutting again?" She asked. I used to cut, but then stopped. It wasn't making me feel any better. So why keep going?
I shook my head.
"Then why do you have stitched down your neck!?" Laney practically screeched. Tears brimmed my eyes. I couldn't tell her about what's been going on. They've always asked why I was so depressed or never talked much anymore.
I shook my head, tears began to fall.
"I-I don't know what I did wrong. I don't kn-know why she did that. Or why they d-did any of it." I softly said.
"Whoa, Maree calm down a bit. Who? What did they do?" Trinna asked.
I took a deep breath. I have to tell them now. No turning back.
"A couple of months ago, Laney. When you dropped me off that day, I walked into the house. As soon as I walked in I was being shouted at, just out of the blue." I sniffled. "I didn't know what they were trying to say. I knew they knew that I was with you, because they happily agreed to let me go. Anyways, my mom shoved me to the wall and I banged my head. Before I could get back to reality my mom and dad tag teamed me. Then eventually jumped me!" I said sobbing uncontrollably in my hands.
"What about the stitches." Trinna said, almost demanding a hint for me to answer.
"Last night, I walked up to my mom and simply asked what was for dinner..." I started.

*flashback*

I was just finishing up a Christopher Moore book called 'You Suck'. It's an awesome vampire story. When I was done I sighed and then my stomach growled. I went downstairs to see my beautiful mother at the stove. I walked up to her.

"Hi mom. What's for dinner?" I asked. I heard a happy tone in my voice.
"Why don't you just leave me alone! Don't call me your mother, because I'm not! You don't get it! Your father and I don't like you! We hate you!." She screamed. When she told me that they both hate me just shattered my heart. My lip quivered.
"W-why?" I asked in a trembled voice.
"YOU ARE AN UGLY ASS WHORE!" She screamed. It made me flinch a little. "I CAN'T BELIVE THAT WE MADE AN UGLY CHILD! NOW GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!" And that's when I felt a pain I have never felt before. I could feel the air that made it sting and located it on my neck. I brought my hand up to it and traced a long cut down the left side of my neck. I brought my hand back down. Blood...all over it. I felt something stream passed my collar bone. I knew it was blood.
"Damn it Kathey! Look what you did!" My father yelled.
"Oh hush Trent! She deserved it!" My mother yelled back.
"She did...but...too far." my dad said.
And soon I was rushed to the hospital and hours of waiting and ten stitches later.
*end of flashback*
I looked to my friends. Their mouths gaping.
"Maree, you are staying with me." Laney ordered.
"But.." I started to protest.
"No. Do you think I'm really going to let you stay there?" She asked.
I shook my head in defeat.
Laney then drove off.
"We'll take your mind off of it soon." Trinna told me.
I nodded. Then looked out the window.
