(Lmao here's a random thing I drew cuz of the last chapter. ( •̀ ω •́ )✧)

(Anyways let's continue)

"The whole story is much longer and this is only a simplification, but I think you get the point." Kirishima groaned, "Wait, isn't he supposed to be the hero? Why is he killing people?" Bakugo shook his head, "Wish I knew." Shota sighed, he did not want to dig into the lore of that. "Any leads? Our main priority is to rescue Momo." Iida stared at the map he drew, "How about the centre, there's a mountain named Kumotori. Maybe he lives there?" All Might shrugged, "It's worth a try."

Tanjiro had explained his plan. Momo was rather confused, why? She was about to make a few simple blades, enough for how many people were going to come around Mount Kumotori. He understood her quirk and gave her food to eat while she was making the blades. He honestly wasn't a bad person. It's just that the kindness was... Burnt out. Like a smoking pile of wet tinder, able to light, but hard to do so. Sometimes he would pop in and tell her a few stories to keep her occupied. He told her about a demon he fought during the exam for Demon Slayers. "If you fail, you die." Momo shuddered, it was harsh considering most of the examinees were children and most of them had little to no relatives left, Tanjiro included. The demon was morphed, having reached a certain power level. He was also trained by the spirits of the children that died to that same demon. What. After he told her about how he decapitated the demon, Momo started to realise that Tanjiro was at his limit. When he mentioned Sabito's name, his eyes would always twitch. He didn't want to remember. He would only talk about the demons he had killed and prayed over, but when Momo tried to ask him about his sister, he stayed quiet and his fingers were drumming harshly on his lap. After that, Momo decided not to ask him about any of his relations. By the time it was evening, she had finished 12 swords, 8 more to go. (They were extremely hard to make, even though the blades were simple, a lot of materials were needed) Tanjiro let her sleep in one of the spare rooms, "Your friends would either come tomorrow or the day after. They still need a plan after all." With that, he closed the door and left her alone in the room.

For some reason, the attacks stopped. The people patrolling in Chofu didn't get a whiff of Jiro that night. Maybe he was changing tactics? Who knows. So they decided to spend the time to form a plan to rescue Momo that would take place tomorrow. Their databases showed that there was a house on top of the mountain which is owned by a man named Takizawa Suzuki. "We should go there and actually confirm his existence. Maybe the house really is owned by a Takizawa Suzuki, we cannot be too sure." "Or he's assumed a fake identity." Shoto muttered. Shota told All Might discreetly about sitting this one out, as he only had a little more than 2 hours left. "I simply cannot, Momo might be in danger." Shota nodded solemnly, he knew he couldn't change All Might's mind when it came to a student's life in danger. If he were him, he would react the same way. Every one of Momo's classmates were gathered in the room. Their first major job together, at first seemed like something that would be exciting, but the four walls of that cold office at first seemed very bright and cheery was now a plain cold. The room was filled with so much sorrow that even a baby would start bawling. The tension was thick, suffocating. Shota broke it, muttering, "Come, we'll figure out how to get to Mount Kumotori." Within a few minutes, they were all out of the office, at a tram station. Apparently, there was a tram that rode to a small town at the foot of the mountain. A few kilometres away was a small village, and after that was nothing but forests and snow. Since it was autumn, only parts of the mountain were not smothered in snow. By early afternoon, the group had reached the small village. "It's going to get colder, have you brought your winter clothing?" Several 'Hai's' came from the group of teens. Bakugo was twitchy, and Midoriya was visibly uncomfortable. As for the rest of them, they weren't doing any better. As the mountain was pretty big, and there was no purposely cleared path for people to walk, it took them almost all afternoon to get even halfway up the mountain. But after that, they got the hang of it and managed to climb the other half of the mountain in less than an hour. Close to the top, everyone got more and more tense. There was also something else. Different headstones littered the surroundings. They were all carefully tended, there was no moss, a patch of grass always growing neatly around it, with fresh flowers lying next to the headstone. There was also something else, a Kitsune mask. Sometimes, more than one would hang on one of the corners. The first one they spotted had the words 'Uzui Family Memorial' on it. It was only a memorial, so there were no real bodies beneath the headstone. There were 4 masks around the headstone. One of them very obviously depicted a male, and the rest were females. The male one had silver eyes, with something tied to the forehead. It also had a red tattoo around the left eye that looked like a flower. The female ones were similar, except that there were a different number and type of flowers on their cheeks. The first one had two sakura flowers, the second one had a small bunch of baby breath. The last one had one pure white spider lily flowering on the left cheek. Inside the masks, there were neat inscriptions of their names. The male's was Uzui Tengen. The sakura flower one was Makio Uzui, and the second one was Suma Uzui, with finally the third one as Hinatsuru Uzui. Midoriya had quickly pointed out that those were the names of the Sound Hashira and his three wives. The second headstone they saw had 'Shinazugawa Family Memorial' on it. There were two masks, one of them was slightly bigger. Only slightly so that you can tell the difference easily but if you don't look closely enough, you might not see the difference. They were all beautifully crafted. The slightly larger one, the older brother, had a curious windmill pattern on its left cheek. Scars criss-crossed the face, but the mask's expression made it seem like it didn't mind at all. The second smaller one also had a few scars, but not as many as the first. The expression on the second one was the same. They continued on, and they came across another headstone. 'Iguro Family Memorial' the inscriptions said. Midoriya pointed out that this was the Snake Hashira's name. There was only one mask hanging from the corner now. The mask had a strip running from the top to the middle of its forehead, black and white alternating. ("That's his Haori's colour." Midoriya added.) The eyes were mismatched, one a warm yellow, the other a jade green. The inside of the mask had the same thing, 'Iguro Obanai'. They continued. Now the ground was almost flat, although it did still have a slight upward climb. Then they saw two graves, somewhat close together. The one closer to them was the 'Himejima Family Memorial', the Stone Hashira's grave. There was a single mask hanging from one of the corners. White 'n' like streaks were the eyes, with a grey coloured streak running from one side of its forehead to the other. A tiny bell was tied to the right ear with a bit of red ribbon. Inside had the name 'Himejima Gyomei'. The next grave was labelled the 'Tokito Family Memorial'. There was also only one mask hanging from the corner of the grave. It had the same expression as Gyomei's mask, 'n' shaped eyes, happy expression. Instead of the bell and scar, there were tiny mist shaped clouds on the mask, corresponding to the fact that Muichiro was the Mist Hashira. The eyebrows were shaped like mist clouds too, with two more on its cheeks and finally one in the centre of the forehead. Like all the other masks, his name was etched into the back neatly. They continued. Shortly after, they found a grave. It was the Kanroji family memorial. "The Love Hashira's." Bakugo muttered. The single mask on the grave had one of the happiest expressions they've seen yet, with two 'bangs' crossing over each other in the shape of a heart. One side was green, the other was pink, just like Mitsuri's hair. Just before the house peeked through the trees, there were two more graves. The one nearer to them was the Tomioka Family Memorial. There were two masks, one was hanging on the corner while the other was lying on the slab of stone. The first one had a happy expression, but not a closed eye smile like Muichiro's and Gyomei's. It had a smile, but it was gentle and kind. Water droplets formed marks like eyelashes around the eyes. The inside of the mask revealed who this was made for, Tomioka Giyu. The other mask was more simple, the eyes were black and a single scar ran from its cheek to the side of its face. There was only a single name inside, 'Sabito'. The next grave was the Rengoku Family Memorial. It had two masks hanging from the side. The first had a relieved expression on it, with flame-like marks in the middle of its forehead and more on the cheeks. The other one was more simple and slightly smaller like Genya's with tinier flames, without the ones on the cheeks which were lines instead. Senjuro's, one of Tanjiro's pen-pals. They went on and found a clearing, and in the middle of it all, was a small wooden house with a nicely sized yard. Outside in the yard was a beautiful sakura tree, with a few buds still struggling to survive. The trunk was wrapped in some rattan material, keeping it warm in the cold winter at the top of the mountain. Right beside the tree was a young man, he was watering the tree with a bucket of water. He heard the footsteps and turned, showing the 1A students and teachers the burgundy eyes and hair, slicked back.

I uhhhhhhhhhhhh need to clarify some things.

1. The masks aren't actually made to fit their faces, it's just what Tanjiro carved in the fallen Hashira's memory.

2. The graves for his family, Zenitsu, Inosuke and the memorial for the Kocho family are all behind the house.

3. To a guest review, please don't say that! But I will give you a little teaser through a line in a song that I think fits him quite well.

(It was a guest review on fanfiction.net lmao but It's still a teaser of such)

"Do you ever get a little bit tired of life? Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die, like you're hanging on a thread but you gotta survive, cuz you gotta survive. Like your body's in the room but you're not really there, like you have empathy inside but you don't really care, like you're fresh out of love but it's been in the air, am I past repair?"- Numb Little Bug by Em Beihold.

Replace "Don't wanna" with "Can't really" and go figure.
