I felt miserable. I felt so bad for my fate, even more than I did when I was getting married to that monster husband of mine.
It's been just two months since my poor miscarriage but I felt happy for that baby to not come into this world when I wasn't able to manage myself.
But now I question whether I want to feel that again. I was happy somewhere deep inside my heart to know that a life was growing inside me.
I looked at the two prominent lines again and sighed happily. I walked out of the washroom and looked at myself in the mirror.
There stood a girl, but soon enough she would grow big and her stomach would be out showing her baby bump. Caressing my lower belly, I walked out of my room to the dinner table.
As usual, Jayesh was sitting reading the newspaper before going to work.
"Ji, apse kuch kehna tha." I told him softly. I knew he was desperate for a child and sharing this news with him would only give a positive reaction. (I wanted to say you something)
"Jaldi bolo aur khane ke liye baith jao" he said looking at me. I nodded and sat down, keeping my hands on the table. He looked at me curiously for what I had to tell. (Tell fast and sit down to eat)
"Ji woh, koi anne walla hai," I told him. All my guts flew out seeing his reaction. "Kaun?" he said deadly. (That, someone's going to come) (who?)
"Hum...hamara baccha" I looked at my hands, scared to see his expressions. When I saw him through my falling hair covering my face, he looked confused. (Our... our child)
"App baap banne wale hai" I cleared out. (You are going to be a father)
He just hummed and went back to reading his paper. I felt hurt. He wanted a kid so badly out of me and when I finally told him, he reacted as if he didn't care.
I looked down at my served plate and began eating.
The same day, I went to the hospital to check up on the baby along with my bodyguards.
"Ma'am, ultrasound ke liye iss taraf," a nurse said. I nodded and followed her. A male doctor stood inside the tiny room applying gel on a machine. (Ma'am, for ultrasound this way)
"Namaste, have you been to the doctor before coming here?" he asked me, I nodded no. "She told me to come here first," I told him.
He nodded and asked me to lay on the bed. I followed his instructions and laid back. He took a blanket covering my lower half and lifted my shirt up and smoothly applied gel.
He and the nurse stood near the monitor marking something while I just waited to see my little bean.
"Here's your baby," he said, pointing at a dark dot. Tears filled my eyes looking at it. I was happy, this happiness was beyond anything I ever felt in my life.
After the ultrasound, I went to the doctor for consultations. She gave me a list of warnings along with things I should eat and avoid during pregnancy and also told me to take care while leaving.
"Ma'am, sir is asking you to meet in his office," one of the bodyguards said. My face paled immediately at this.
The office was never good news for me.
