⫍Eumelia⫎

The Nesting Station of the Arctic Icewing was just as freezing as usual, the eggs needing to be kept at low temperatures. This meant for the eleven year-old Eumelia that she had to wear what felt like half of her wardrobe to not freeze her limbs off.

She knew exactly what to do to properly take care of the dragon egg and with a warming charm placed on her gloves by her father there was no actual risk of something happening as long as she kept them on.

Eumelia was making sure the eggs were comfortably buried in snow with it making sure the babies would be comfortable upon hatching. One of the Carers was always watching over her, just in case something happened or a charm had to be put.

This day, was more special than usual, yet she hadn't changed her behaviour towards the chores she had worked so hard to be allowed to do. Even when she was much younger - not that Eumelia was old - the girl had been crazy about dragons and as soon as she could do anything, everything was about the beasts.

Her first time accompanying her father to his work was at age two while her mother was five months pregnant and her older brother, almost five at the time, was in his room, reading one of their mothers books about creature regulations.

With the Carers tutoring the children Eumelia started her first journal about dragons at four years old, writing everything down she knew and learned. Now, at eleven years old she was awaiting her owl from school.

Eileen, her mother, had been hoping for her to go to Beauxbatons while Réamonn, her father, wanted her to attend Hogwarts like he did. Her older brother Tobey had decided on attending Durmstrang and the middle brother Cayden was hoping to go there as well while the youngest, Quincy, usually stuck with Eumelia.

Even now, he was watching her through the window of the nesting station while waiting for her to be done to get to lunch. After their mother had left with Tobey and Cayden he had developed quite the separation anxiety despite still seeing them regularly.

Now she was hoping to go to Hogwarts and in his 7-year-old mind it was her trying to leave him too so he tried to keep her there or at least spend as much time as possible with her beforehand. Just as he went to knock on the window he was watching her through an owl flew through the open window of the viewing room and hit the glas.

This got Eumelia's attention and made her finish up as quick as possible without making any mistakes.

"I'll see you later Christian! I just got my letter."

The silver haired girl kept her voice steady although the excitement in her voice was more than clear to the nursery Carer of the Sub-Zero Dragons. While she ran to and out the massive doors Quin carefully helped the black tawny owl take a seat on his hand and followed her to their cabin for a birthday lunch with their family before the whole sanctuary would celebrate together at dinner.
