Author's note:
Chapter 2 will take a while. But, a little spoiler won't hurt, I guess? Hehe.

Park Jin Tae saw it.
Lee Soo Hyuk.
Choi Jung Soo.
Kim Rok Soo.
The expression of the three people he considered hiding something from the rest of them. The look and aura of familiarity were etched on their faces.

So, this is just one of the many not-little-secrets that I hold. The snippets being included in this 'Once Upon a Human' book are just some bs I wrote. Hahahaha and one-shot. So, read if you want and ignore if you don't. Plus, if you want to continue the idea, please do tell me.
p/s : The snippet I'm going to include is basically derived or inspired by a lot of fanfiction. I'll make sure to include the name and author (already done it for snippet 1). If you want me to take it down, please do tell me. Also, if there's no author's name, that means it's solely mine. My idea.
Snippet 2 is a mess (thanks to my scatterbrained for that). Yep. Hahahahaha. Added some of my idea and boom. Without further ado, let's read the second snippet.
p/s : I don't really hate Deruth, but when the emotion flares sometimes, this is what happens. Hehe.

"For so many years, I have waited again and again. So I can hear those words that I want...but they never come by."
Cale looked at his father's crumbling expression. He didn't care about etiquette or what anymore.
For the last time, at least...
He wanted his father to know. The storm he's been hiding beneath that facade of his.
Cause he's been too tired of waiting...and hoping.
"Did you realise, in recent years, how many times Basen has been bullied and insulted? Did you even realise when did they stopped with the malicious criticism towards the countess and Basen? Have you?"
He saw it. How his father's eyes sank in shock. Knowing the fact for the first time.
Cale's utterly disappointed.
Definitely, he definitely needs to stop. He knows more than anyone else.
Veins bulging on his forehead. Sweat decorated his face and neck. Heat permeated from his body. Pain was stinging his chest. Views are blurred by tears and emotions. It hurts.
Everything.
He wanted to stop. He really wanted to. Cause his act has been for naught by the words he spoke later. No, not everything's wasted.
Basen can live happily now. With Lily. With the countess...and also, father.
That's why he needed to pry open his father's eyes. So he will not repeat the same mistake.
As apparently, lightning never strikes twice.
"Open your eyes. Shower your family with love and not money alone. Be with them when they need you. Not when everything's over and you're too late to mend it."
"Cale... that's we, us. You and me. I can still do that for you...right?"
Deruth held his hand, squeezing not too hard. The fragile looking hand if he were to look closely.
Cale was deemed fit and healthy for someone who acted as a trash. However, one sickness mostly came from their mind.
That's what Cale is.
Tattered like rag soul.
Unfixable and broken.
The red head looked at his hand in Deruth's hold.
If and only if...This were him from ten years ago, he would be delighted to accept those warm and big hands.
Crumble his facade as it is, there's no way he would feel accepted. To smile and giggle happily like he used to be. There's no way, even one thousand times in his life.
Simply no way.
That warm hand, he pulled his hand within the grip, slowly. Feeling the warmth, sneaking glance at his feeble hands leaving.
He smiled, sadly, wryly...towards his father that he had long forgotten how love would be, and said-
"I'm sorry, Count Henituse."
Hurts.
It so hurts. He flashed a sickening, tired smile that, for the first time, he showed to someone else instead of Rok Soo and the children.
His true face he's been hiding from people he's unable to open up anymore.
"There's no Cale in the equation of Henituse now. Cale Henituse has long died, the moment you asked me to turn in my newly founded family."
Deruth's eyes showed horror that he had never imagined. Trembling, his hands tried to grasp the slender, feeble looking hand again.
And he failed. How laughable.
As Cale walked away and Deruth stumbled on his feet.
"Cale, please, please."
As tears flickering. As Cale reached his hand for the doorknob."Gasp!"
Hurts.
It hurts.
Cale grabbed his clothes near his heart. The stinging pain jeopardized his little bit of consciousness.
Deruth with his eyes, widening. Scrambling on his feet, trying to hold Cale.
"Son-"
"Stop!"
Gasping for air amidst his chaotic breathing. Head leaning on the door frame, weakly saying to Deruth to stop approaching him.
Back that look so strong despite insults and scrutinizes from people, look so small and brittle. Tears were streaming down his face. Missing the warmth of his family's hug. New family.
For one last time...he said-
"Basen and Lily, urgh."
He tried as best as he could.
Finding little breath that he could spare. To speak his mind out loud for the last time.
Toward his fathe- Count Henituse.
"They, they're different from me."
Clenching his heart, squeezing as his fingers turned pale and white.
"Their childhood is still savable. As they are still children. Hiks."
The crystal clear water continues to fall, drop by drop.
"Treasure them. Treasure your family. Count Henituse."
In which, at the end, he didn't forget to emphasize the boundary, between Cale, now a free spirit, and the Henituse.
"Goodbye."Holding the doorknob and opening the door, he saw the heroes.
The strong swordmaster, Choi Han.
The brilliant mage, Rosalyn.
The Wolf King, Lock.
The torturer and his ex-chef, Beacrox.
One and foremost, the assassin...the ex-butler, no, his father figure, Ron.Outside the door with faces looking awkward, seeing his haggrad-stained face.
Not to mention, a communication device showing the shining crown prince, Alberu Crossman, in Rosalyn's hand.
He doesn't care. He only needs his family. New family. Small and warm new family.
Tightening his hold of his vaguely remaining consciousness and stumbling on his feet.
Step by step.
Slowly.
But surely.
Towards his worried looking family member. One step, two...and he fell into the grasp of the ancient dragon, Eruhaben.
They teleported to the Super Rock villa. To his home.
Their home.
