The video communication device was glowing red. Shining and glowing in his breast pocket. Naru felt an ominous feeling as he looked at the device to see whether he should pick it up or just let it be.
But the silver-haired boy just couldn't help it. The colour red means emergency. He has set it to be like that. That means something happened on his father's side.
Tweaking his mana a little, the device lit up, showing Melundo's benign face. A different kind of benign than the assassin Ron.
Hint of anxiousness in his eyes.
"Young master Naru, I'm glad."
"... what happened?"
Naru observed the old vampire butler's face.
"I just want to make sure you're okay."
"Don't bullshit with me, Melundo."
Naru let out a low threatening voice, urging Melundo to spill the bean.
"...we've been discovered."
A rough sigh escaped the little vampire's mouth. He rubbed his face with both his hands, trying to calm himself. The idea of his newfound family in danger...was enough to trigger something deep and old within him.
How frustrating.
"Young Master Naru, I'm calling you in the hope of you being safe and...please wait for us."
"..."
"We'll survive, young master-nim."
Naru pondered, before he resumed.
"I understand. Come to me, save and sound. Everyone must survive. Tell that to the Duke-nim."
"As you wish."
Melundo bowed a little. Showing respect to Naru for who know when they will meet again.
"Melundo...tell father, his son will kill him himself if he comes to me injured."
And of course, Naru just had to jinx Fredo's fate.
Extra :
"Urgh, uh, Naru, my son."
"You idiot vampire, don't you dare die on me! My slacker life depends on you."
"Son, really, that's the first thing you say, seeing me injured and bloodied."
Smack. Smack. Smack.
"Ow, Naru dear, I'm hurt..."
"I'll really kill you."
