It had been 2 days since Grandpa's death and so far, no one seemed affected by it but me and my friends.

School had just ended and after saying bye to my friends, I make my way out of the school. Right before I'm off campus, I run into Kurt, Jean, and Scott. By the looks of it, they've got a new member of the group. Kitty Pryde.

I've seen her around and she's a victim of most bully girls. I want to help her out, but it looks like she's already got friends to watch her back. That's good.

"Hey Y/n!" Kurt waved to me. I walk over to them, kinda surprise that they called me over. I wonder if it has to do with Martin...

"Hey Kurt." I greeted, before greeting the others. "What's up?"

"We uh..." Scott rubbed the back of his neck. "We heard about your Grandpa."

"Oh." I said, now understand why they wanted to talk to me. Guess some people can see me more than just Martin's friend.

"We're really sorry about what happened." Jean apologized, putting her hand on my shoulder.

I smiled. "Don't be, it wasn't your fault." I reassured them, patting Jean's hand. "Besides, I heard the guy that did it got arrested the other day."

"Yeah, like what do you think made that web?" Kitty asked, to all of us. Kurt responded with a guess. "A giant spider or maybe a mutant spider?"

"Well whatever got him," I interrupt Kurt's guessing game. "I'm just glad that the man who killed my grandpa is behind bars."

The others smiled with me, happy seeing me happy. "Hey vat vould you zink of ze guy catching him iv he waz actually a man spider?"

"Kurt..." Scott sighed, knowing why he was asking. I however, didn't.

"Honestly? I don't know." I truthfully. "I mean I can't judge someone who haven't even seen yet. Besides, you can't judge a book by its cover right?"

"Exactly!" Kurt exclaimed, looking like he had just found someone who finally agrees with him on something.

"Well, I gotta go or I'm gonna be late for my job." I said, turning around.

"You don't think that you might be working too hard?" Scott asked with a smirk.

"Thanks for looking out for me, dad." I said with sarcasm, as I continue walking away. They waved bye and I waved back.

When I said job, I didn't really mean a job. After grandpa died, I had asked my bosses if it was okay for me to resign.

Thankfully, they're not like that one boss of mine, plus since they heard about what happened, they understood and respected my decision. They even gave me all the money I earned.

It was more than enough to pay for all the bills. So far, me and grandma are good. However, I will definitely have to find a more permanent job later on. Until then, I'm gonna be making wise choices with the money I have left.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna be using the "I have a job" term as an excuse to go and be Spider-man, as I call myself.

So after changing in a nearby alley, I hide my backpack and web it there. I leap up to a rooftop and get a bird's eye view of the town.

About 3 hours later, I've stopped about 10 crimes in Bayville. Now here I am, hiding on bus that's on its way to the big city.

I got say that the city seems better for me. I mean I love Bayville, but the tall buildings let swing. I love it.

The adrenaline pumping through me, the falling/flying feeling I get. Heck, I feel like I'm messing with death here and I love the feeling!

I'm interrupted from my thoughts by tire screeches and police sirens. I land on building and look down. I see police cars chasing one crazy car that keeps crashing into everything.

I jump down and swing. The first thing I need to do is keep people off the streets or out of it's way before I stop it. So swing the people nearby away from the car.

After moving the pedestrians, I web zip to the car. I see that there's one thug with a bag of money in the back. I knock on the window with a quip, "License and registration please!"

"What the!?" The guy goes. He pulls out a gun and shoots the window.

So I climb to the top and thanks to my new sixth sense, or spidey sense as I call it, I dodge the bullets with ease.

I decided enough was enough, so I moved to the passenger side, went through the window, and kick the punk out the other side.

"Should've worn your seat belt!" I quip as the car leans over from the force. I catch it before it crushes me, thankful for my increased strength.

I flip it upside and web the crook before he can get away. "Nice try buddy." I chuckle.

"What the Hell are you!?" He shouted at me.

"Me? Oh, I'm just your friendly neighborhood Spider-man." I responded before firing a web and swinging away.

Timeskip

"Not bad for my first day." I stretched as I sat on the couch. I had already finished dinner and Grandma was just putting her dishes away.

I look at the TV to see if I made the news. "Meanwhile, in Brooklyn New York, police reported a man in a mask stopping a car thief. Witnesses described the man as a red and blue monkey."

I spit my drink.

"Police have also reported that the perpetrator was trapped in some kind of web. Said perpetrator said that the he called himself "Spider-man"."

"Now this raises some questions. Is this the same man who stopped the car jacker from 2 days ago? Is this a sign? Will he continue these acts of vigilantism? Only time will tell."

I smile as they now know that a hero has risen. I can't wait to see what's in store tomorrow.

Little did I know that I had gained the attention of two groups of certain individuals and even more...
