Some more time passed and things stayed quiet.
Occasionally she would look at Tom from the corner of her eye seeing that he was watching her. She couldn't help but feel a bit conflicted.
On one hand this was supposed to be cute or something but on the other hand he is kind of creepy looking at her like that all the time.
The bus finally lurched to a stop at a dusty camp ground at the base of the tallest mountain Hazel had ever seen. She looked up and up and saw that the peak was shelled by clouds.
She felt so small... like the world was about to cave in on top of her.
Her heart raced a little and her breathe quickened. This wasn't what she expected. This isn't what she wanted. This was too much too much to conquer.
"This might look a bit intimidating, but I promise you will be ok, the mountain doesn't look at big once you're on it." Announced the instructor.
She looked around trying to avoid the mountain. She saw the sun was just about to set, there were some clouds in the sky, but that only adds to the sunset. There were some pine trees around, but it wasn't too thick.
"Everyone find your bags and start setting up camp for the night," the camp instructor said. "Dinner will be soon, listen for a whistle."
Hazel set out for her bag, there was such a big pile it was almost impossible to spot it.
Of course hers was all the way on the bottom of the pile. Struggling to pull it from out of everything she made a really big sigh.
Tom came over and pulled it out for her.
"Uh, thanks," she said, a little out of breathe.
"Of course, I always love to lend a helping to those in need," he said with a grin.
Uh- who was this guy? She was just about to get it herself and she wasn't in need of anything. But it was romantic, romantic-ish.
She walked away with her bag unsure of what to do now. The camp said that they provided tents for the campers, but where the heck were they???
She walked around the camp sight getting dirt on everything.
She didn't want to ask for help, but there was no other way to find a tent.
"Heyyyy," Hazel said in an awkward way, you know where it trails at the end leaving you in weird silence? Yeah it was like that.
"Oh! Hey, what's up?" Asked Cyan.
"Do you happen to know where I can find a tent?"
"Oh, they were all taken, but I managed to take one." Cyan explain.
That explains why no one got their bag yet, they were all stealing tents!!
"Huh. Well I guess I am out of luck haha," Hazel said.
Why did I laugh this is not a place where you laugh Hazel! Ughhhh
"I mean if you wanted to we could share a tent." Cyan pointed the tent bundle saying, "It says here that it is made for two people."
"I-I-I see, that would be really nice of you, but I couldn't expect that, I mean thanks, but I don't want to make it weird, but not saying that it would be weird, just that it could...," she rambled, man that was a rough sentence.
"No! It would not be weird at all, here take the tent and I'll hammer in the spikes" Cyan said with a nice smile.
"Ok, uh- thanks," Hazel said blushing a bit.
*whistle bloooooowwwwww*
"Oh dinner yay! I am starving!" Cyan said, but she almost sang that last part.
Hazel chuckled and they walked to the camp fire together.
Tom smiled when they approached, all of the other guys were a few yards off watching.
"Hey, Hazel do you want to eat dinner with me? I have already found a spot, if you would like to join me," Tom said with such arrogance it was pretty much like he already thought she said yes.
Hazel looked between the two unsure of who to pick, I mean for once she was wanted. For once she could choose instead of chase after friends....
"I think I will..."
