First inning: the first half-inning of a game, which is when the visiting team bats

I can't decide if having a big brother is bad or considerably the worst thing in the world. Because he's treading on a very thin line with an angry sixteen year old who can't sleep because of his brother's insane obsession with Selena Gomez.

I was woken up at three o'clock in the morning because my brother decided to go out last night and the idiot doesn't know how to be quiet. So of course not only did he wake me up, he woke mom up, and her chancla.

Luckily enough, I was able to fall back asleep, earning the sleep I so well deserved. Unluckily, my alarm went off twenty minutes ago and I slept right through it.

"Ay Mijo, you're going to be late for your first day of school!" My mom slammed my door open, scaring me out of my bed, causing me to fall off and onto the hardwood floor.

"Mami! I'm up I'm up!" Note to self: speed changing is a pain in the ass that creates more problems than it solves. In the minute it took me to changed: I put my pants on backwards, my shirt was inside out, and I forgot to put on socks before I threw on my converse. Fortunately, it only took me a minute to fix it all, but I may have to skip breakfast.

I rush out of the house, past my screaming mother, and into my brothers car, which the asshole isn't even in. I glare as my brother, hungover as ever, slowly walks over to the car, blocking out the sunlight as if his ridiculous sunglasses didn't do that before.

"Sup 'manito! That party I went to last night was out of control, I hooked up with this one dude-" "Stop!" I cut him off before he can torture my ears. "Just start the car, dumbass."

"Sorry for trying to lighten the mood, cranky pants." He started the car and bolted out of the driveway like fucking Lightning McQueen. But that lucky bastard got us to the school in just enough time to only be a few minutes late, not a whole hour.

As my brother sped to the school, nearly running a red light, my phone rang. Rosie🥀🖕 I didn't really want to talk this morning but I also didn't want to get murdered by my best friend. I picked up the call.

"Where the fuck are you?!?" Her high-pitched voice shrieked, basically shattering my eardrums. I rolled my eyes.

"Good morning to you too. I slept through my alarm and Juniper is super hungover." I muttered while trying to keep my breathing easy. We were going twenty miles over the speed limit. I don't even have a will written up. Who's gonna tell my mom that I love her?

"Ooh ooh, put me on speaker!" I did. "Okay, you're on."

"Hi Juniper!" She yelled really loud and I watched him visibly wince. She did that on purpose, and I bet my ass she enjoyed that.

"How are you today!!!" Still yelling, still annoying.

"Alright, we're pulling into the school lot, I'm hanging up before you make my brother crash the fucking car."

"Okay, shithead, see you in first period. DON'T BE LATE!" She yelled one last time before I ended the call. I looked over at my brother to see him with his head on the wheel, looking like he's going to cry. "Your friend is really mean." He said before jumping out the car and zombie walking into the school. I followed, sprinting, before someone locked the front doors.
